Electric stoves are terrible, they take a long time to heat pots, especially if you just want to heat something small like a cup of water, and they use a ton of power.

Microwave is faster for that. Make sure to leave something in the glass/bowl though, toothpick works, or it can explode.

Quinoa is ok, I bought some quinoa/rice garlic flavored microwave thing from the land of great meet departments, and I was pretty impressed.
