I agree with you 100% that you need veteran leaders on the team, helps if they're good to decent players too. My thoughts are they have so many holes to fill and so few tradeable assets to work with, trade a guy like Tanev for an absolute future need, a top six center.

No kidding. Wingers are a dime a dozen in the 1st round. Easier to trade for as well. Our best assets should go towards a young potential 1st line centre. I don't think they saw what they wanted as a top 6 C from McCann or they would have kept him. Why they would be confident outside of thinking they were getting Dubois, we will not know for some time if ever. Maybe they are confident they have a way out of this in the future... or their draft gamble just failed as the odds told us it most likely would anyways....

This team reminds me a lot of the crap they thre out there in the 98/99 season, gonna be a hateful year.

Know of any on the trade block...? It's more likely they will have to draft one because of the assets we do have at our disposal. It if they can get other missing pieces like a power forward ... another rare piece usually only available by drafting or free agency( see little use left) then why not?

Asking for Jost would warrant the same reaction as other teams asking for Boeser/Juolevi/Demko. I think that Tanev, while underrated, still does not fetch the return that people are expecting.

Not necessarily, the two franchises are fundamentally polar opposites with regards to the 'window of competitiveness'.

They are arching up where-as we have fallen out the 43rd window and are currently waiting to hit the dry concrete below.

Sending vets over to the likes of young up and coming teams (CLB, FL, COL, WIN, ARZ, BUF etc) is exactly what we should be doing.
