Yeah, I looked into it when my wife used to play the SNES Zelda (forget the name) but she lost interest.

And I know that they have to "dumb down" games for consoles. But my point was that a console is made to handle console games, whereas a computer is not made specifically to handle games. I like knowing that, if I buy a PS game, it will play on my PS without me having to check the hardware requirements.

Just using it as an example. I don't care enough to drop $1500 every 2 years to upgrade my video card and RAM. My on-board video card lets me play Heroes of Might and Magic III and Age of Conan just fine, but probably couldn't handle even Skyrim very well.

$1500 every two years? We're done here, you really don't know what you're talking about.

Ah, I guess I am a bit lucky in that I don't pursue the excessive requirement games... I only have to shell out the money once every 5 years. But at least the prices for ram and harddrives have come down a lot recently... Graphics cards will always be the budget breaker.

My computer crapped out on me about a year ago, and I got a very nice deal on a ASUS (I think that's what it's called). When it showed up, it was actually one step up from what I ordered, so the on-board graphics card was actually really good, at least compared to my last one. Speed difference was obvious from the get-go.

Of course, with a 3-year-old, my game playing time is next to nil.

That's the one. I never owned any Nintendo product past the NES (Sega and then PS) so it was cool to see the old games.

My boss just bought a $1200 video card last year for his computer, and my other coworker dropped I think $900 on his.

Yeah... you REALLY don't ever need the #1 video cards, ever. The NVIDIA Titans were nice, but the 980 TI were almost as good, for half the cost or less.

I'm sure that if I bought a laptop or even off-the-shelf PC, and tried to play a brand-new game, I probably wouldn't be able to play it with the graphics anywhere near full-blast.

Yes, like cherrypicking a #fancy stat or two, without knowing what they really mean, to support a case that a player is awesome or that a player sucks.

You don't need those cards to play new games. This is like saying, "I'll just take the bus because, like most people, I can't afford to buy a new $150,000 Maserati every two years."

The only useful stat is high-percentage scoring chance differentials on Tuesday nights.

No, not to play them. But if you want to be able to play them at full resolution without lag, you're gonna drop a pretty penny on a video card and memory.

The (frank) is with you dude? I just said I prefer consoles to PC games and you seem to be taking it personally.

With baseball, you need to specify whether it's vs. lefties or righties as well as the phase of the moon.

Already said night games, but how'd I forget longitudinal differences? That's basic baseball stat keeping 101.

You don't have to spend that much on it, you litrily don't know what you're talking about.

I never said you have to prefer one over the other, you're just way off base here. Nothing personal about it. I thought sarcasm was good, or are only you allowed to use it?

Well, I don't care enough to invest the time into looking into it. I just know the 4-5 gamers in the office are always going on about the hundreds upon hundreds of dollars they spend every 2 years or so to upgrade their gaming systems. I'd rather buy a console, put a disc in it, and have it play the the specs of the console (which is rarely, if ever, above 720p).

Sorry to offend you with my infinite ignorance.

I am just viewing those coworkers as the kind of people who put over 20 grand extra into a car and overhaul the engine... and just use to commute to work each day and nothing special.

Wasted money on their part.

My boss plays (or played) World of Tanks, that was his thing. He wanted to put it on hi-res and be able to see the individual blades of grass moving in the wind, and dropped I think $800 or so on his video card. Sure, the game probably looks slightly better than it would for a $400 card, but probably 10x better than it would look with my on-board card.

Again, yes, I can play any game that I want to with the home desktop. But to truly enjoy the game to its fullest, with all of its bells and whistles, I'd probably have to spend a fair amount upgrading a few components, plus probably buy a new monitor.

Unless you have a card that is over a decade old... that is where your ignorance comes in.

There is not a crazy difference between the average card and the top of the line one anymore, except the price tag. Now for people who are modding the graphic settings to go over the maximum requirements or doing overclocking, then you need better equipment overall.

Well then I'm wrong and I apologize for offending Bullies. I was under the assumption (again, going by what my coworkers talked about) that the graphics card that comes on your motherboard, while functional, will not let you fully enjoy games at full resolution without lagging or other compromises.
