Yep, sometimes those are the guys you get regardless of draft position. Sam Bennett is hardly a dominant player at the moment and Central Scouting had him ahead of Reinhart.

No, the point is you want to trade a 20+ goal scorer for a guy who has 1 point in his NHL career.

Totally serious, 3rd rounders are between 4%-7% chance of making it to the NHL as a regular.

An addendum, I meant have an impact, not just a regular. There's a higher percentage they make it as a regular although not great. Picks 91-120 have a 14%-24% chance of making it to 100 GP. A "7" or better, 7 being top 6, is 3.8%-4.8% between picks 91-120.

I'm not saying I don't watch the WJCs, they're not at the top of the list or anything, but if I have little else to watch I'll throw a game on. The problem is it's just too random at that age for players, aside from the ones you already know are going to be great, like Laine last year. I still can't believe people thought Puljujarvi should've been ahead of Laine.

It's a risk that could be brilliant or a disaster at this point I would make a risk

This season is already a wash its over with we would have to go on a ridiculous run to even have a chance at the wildcard

Yeah, it's hard to translate it to the NHL. The NHL is hard to do well in, that's why when you have a guy who can score 23 goals in his rookie year you don't trade him for a guy with 1 point and can't get onto the worst team in the NHL's roster!

There are risks to take, definitely. But generally the role is to limit your risk. And trading a guy who has produced and is producing for a guy who hasn't and isn't is not a way to limit your risk.

Higher upside or higher ceiling would be a sports phrase - and dontvtell me it's auto correct. Those letters aren't even close to one another on any keyboard.

It's irrelevant, he wasn't. But to play your little game, 5th or 6th. I don't know if he would've gone there with the defensemen on the board, but just looking at the players I think he's the 5th or 6th best guy there.

A disaster would be like trading Hasek for Slava Kozlov. That's a disaster. Even the 1st we also got doesn't make up for how terribly awful that trade was.
