I don't want the GM of my team to take a gamble like that.
A gamble like trading away a 3rd round pick to talk to a pending college free agent is a good gamble, trading away a former 2nd round pick for a former 3rd round pick that can't crack one of the worst teams in the league is not a good gamble. - Stripes77
Strome went 3rd overall after Eichel. I think it just comes down to which player one thinks will have the better nhl career. I personally think Strome is a better bet. |

I'm aware. He hasn't been able to crack a terrible Coyotes team...what does that say?

I misread what you said, you said he was a 3rd rounder but I figured out what you meant lol. It's still really early on. It took Sam a bit to get rolling last year too |

You take the better player has a way higher calling and a way better skater also the only downside Is not very good at defense |

If they were being drafted this year, yes I agree you would take the player with a higher ceiling.
But not after you've invested the time in developing them.
Not to mention your franchise player has great chemistry with him...
Also the not being very good defensively...yeah that doesn't work out very well unless you're Ovi |

So we are moving Sam on a gamble that Strome can produce when he hasn't been able too all year?
Get the point? It's a trade just to make a trade at this point and it accomplishes nothing. - Stripes77
Strome Is way better the Sam "If " Sam was in the draft who would go Before him I can think of 7 players
Just like you said it be crazy to trade him for Mitchell Marner .. How's that working

So you've gotten what one player right in all of your man crushes...
Let me explain this to you so you can understand...this so called much better offensively player averaged less points per game in his draft year in a much more offensive league than Sam Reinhart...
So if you think he is soooooooooo much more offensively better you're wrong.
Sam Reinhart ppg in his draft year 1.81 in the WHL
Dylan Strome ppg in his draft year 1.69 in the OHL
Also if he is so damn good why can't he crack the lineup for the damn Arizona Coyotes?? |

I don't care about them being Best friends if you can get a better player you do it
Do I trade for a guy that could be like Tyler seguin or keep a player that ends up like Kadri |

It's one of those trades that could be brilliant or a trade they could set you back
With ROR on the team we could make this trade
I would make this trade before he becomes untouchable The same thing happen with Stamkos now look at him
And it's already been stated that the 2015 draft One of the best drafts for generation players ,first line centers ,and franchise players
So any of those top 10 players could've been first overall Sam's draft |

Again I am not arguing if both players were drafted this year, or even last year who you would take first.
What I am arguing is why would you make a trade for a player that isn't good enough to crack the lineup of the last place Coyotes?
He has skill, every player drafted has skill. But he isn't putting it together. If you make that trade you disrupt the entire future of your franchise. The way Jack and Sam were playing together at the end of last year gave every single person in here a ton of hope for this season.
You cannot just replace that kind of chemistry. Having a ton of skill gets you no where if you can't put it together with your teammates, look at Tyler Ennis (no I am not comparing the two).
Will Strome be a good NHL player? Yes, will he be more productive than Reinhart offensively? Maybe, but he isn't as good of a playmaker as Reinhart is and the chemistry between Sam and Jack is not something you throw away.
If Murray wants Strome by all means go get him, but not for Reinhart, Risto or Eichel. |

Sam Reinhart also was the go to number 1 center on his WHL team. Strome was behind McDvaid. Totally different scenario |
|
|
|
I can't think of any reason why Strome would realistically be available from a Coyotes standpoint. |

So he didn't have to face the opposing teams shut down line as frequently is what you're saying...
Also Reinhart was that shut down center in juniors and still put up a ton of points...

Not really, McDavid was hurt for a while, and you could make the argument that Strome drew the sweetheart matchups because everyone was worried about McDavid whereas Reinhart drew the toughest matchups. QoC matters in the CHL with the wide range of talent. You have guys who top out at maybe ECHL talents and you have guys who are at the top of the NHL. |
