So let me get this straight. We traded a D man that most of us were convinced was the odd man out, for a guy who Murray himself said could play with Risto, and he liked him in Ottawa, and the only reason the trade went down was because we were able to move up a few spots to get a guy we weren't guaranteed to get?

Is Carolina shopping him? Seems early for them to be giving up on him, especially with their lack of offense in how their rebuild is shaping up.

You're assigning a lot there. All I was saying is that Pach was correct in his recollection that Murray said he had to move up. That's it.

And for the record Kulikov was playing with Risto when he re-injured himself. The WC, and being injured really puts a damper on jelling with your teammates, Bylsma's not just going to throw him out there for 25+ minutes right away without some type of acclimation. For a stats guy you're awfully caught up in minutiae. i.e. because Kulikov didn't play with Risto for like 7 games he'll never play with him. You can't analyze the future. Only the past.

Sorta. Hes got upside, might be able to get him for reduced value if it gets Carolina what they need.

My point is that's it's more obvious that Kulikov was the target, rather than Asplund. Making that trade guaranteed Kulikov, it never guaranteed Asplund.

The fawning over him nationally has stopped. NHL network was criticizing him pretty harshly about a week ago over Kane.

I liked him, but the day he did that one thing, that I won't mention, I thought he was an insane person.
