If we can have more games like last night during this rebuild, I'm sure the fans will be happy and come out to games. That was entertaining as hell. |

McDavid is a generational talent, it's not a good comparison to Kane/MacKinnon. And both Kane and MacKinnon took a couple of years to get as good as they are. - DariusKnight
Yes McDavid is in a league of his own, however, kids like Patrick Kane came into the league as an 18 year old and scored 71 points. He DID NOT need a couple years to become good.
MacKinnon also had 24-39-63 points as an 18 year old, these kids can step into the lineup and immediately contribute. |

I think they've gotta play this way until they increase their skill level, that's gonna take awhile unless they get a few first overall picks that they're lucky enough to be NHL ready. - LeftCoaster
Canucks should have played a tight third period . Jabs, hold, scrums , throw them off their game style . Instead they tried to match speed and chase. Dumb strategy. |

Whichever style we adopt once the twins retire makes no difference to me, as long as it provides results. I've seen enough of the cycle. - VanHockeyGuy
The funny thing is a lot of team try and cycle down low, because it's effective. Some just hate it because they've been seeing the same two guys do it for so long....the guys who are both about to reach the 1000 point plateau |

Nope. It was a worthless stupid game because they played bad for one period |

See JV, Yakupov, it doesn't always work that way. Again, it depends on the draft, situation, and coach. |

I just think they were severely overmatched when Chicago turned it up, they would've just taken a ton of penalties and lost had they clutched and grabbed. |

Of course it doesn't ALWAYS work that way, but it does the vast majority of the time. Just because you can name a couple top three picks that didn't work out doesn't mean it's the norm. The vast majority of kids taken top three turn into good players.
Canucks need a couple top three picks and they need them to be good NHL ready players. |

Oh I still want them gone, different topic, they're holding back the rebuild 100%. That has nothing to do with playing style. |

I am talking one game. I am not pissed at the season . I like some of the players. This is about a team that folded again and was unprepared .
One hopes that some day the team learns by their repeated mistakes. |

It doesn't help when you ask a 36 year old slow player to chase a 28 year old speedster. This is where you turn the reins to your younger faster guys |

No, it's not the norm, but you can't always bank on it, you pay your money and you take your chances. You expect that if you're picking that high and you have a half-way decent scouting department that you'll be getting high-end talent, but you have to expect that it might not work that way.
Keep in mind that with our travel, injuries, exhaustion and general wear and tear, not to mention the weight of expectations and general fan fickleness/impatience will also play a factor of any highly touted high-end top 5 pick's potential and success. |

There's luck involved, as I said, but, if you put the team in a good position percentage wise a few times, you're bound to get a good player even with a mediocre scouting staff or lucky enough eventually.
The top five picks usually turn out the be really good players, some take longer than others, and that's where development comes in, but 95% of the time you get a really good player. |

I seen your comments earlier about Willie not losing the room he is just not that good. That is pretty bang on.
This year on paper should not be as bad as it is. You look how they can beat top teams like Rangers and outplay the Habs and lose , and last nights game. Benning needs to figure out where it falls apart. |

Come on now, the team went toe to toe with the best team in the West for 40 whole minutes.
Let be honest here though, did anyone truly think we would be able to contain the likes of Kane (frank me that kid can glide) and Hossa in 3 vs 3 overtime? - Whiskey-Tango
We did have our chances to win it in OT...

And I agree....he's just not that good at coaching at the NHL level. |

Definitely had more than tbe hawks did ...Canucks are a much better 3 on 3 team this year
Hell both the Hawks goals were not even clear open looks to the net ...hawks gave up 3/4 maybe more clear breakaway chances to the Canucks |
