Yes I agree, the higher the pick the better the perception that you're going to get a quality player, but it doesn't always happen.
I'm sorry, but what Toronto did and Buffalo did should be penalized and not rewarded, purposely tanking should be the team is taken out of the choice for top 5.
If you have a poopty team like Vancouver or Calgary and try to be competitive, good on you, if you have a poopty team and waive, trade, sit to finish last to draft top 5 well (frank) you. - Makita

After what..17-18 games? I"m ok with trading McCann for Gudbranson. Lets reevaluate after the years over. - Makita
That's why I said I'm ok with the trade. but lets be real, to date his body of work hasn't been exceptional. McCann isn't exactly tearing it up, but the kid is what 20? I think both teams got what they wanted. |

Yeah I get what your saying ...I'm not a fan of some of the stuff teams have done like shipping out goalies for winning or changing your lineups cuz your winning too much late
But I like the idea of a full rebuild when teams trade all or most outgoing assets ...toronto and Buffalo loading up on draft picks for multiple seasons is smart IMO
I think it's just having an actual direction or plan and sticking to it ...be Interesting to see if any reactionary trades are made with injuries to star players ...or with teams not being where they thought they would - Redmile247
Maybe they could do something like what they do in the pre-season, have a requirement to have a minimum number of players with actual NHL experience in the lineup. |

Trading for Gudbranson should mean you forfeit the whole draft. It was obvious to everyone labeled (east coast biased) that Benning was actively making the team worse. It was a cringe worthy move. This was obvious to most during the summer

I think that trade is looking great for van early ...but not because of guddy playing good but McCann being so bad |

MCCann has done squat.
If our forwards could score Gudbranson would look a lot better trade wise |

I disagree, his body of work has nothing to do with the Canucks scoring, or even wining. I haven't seen a player that is "hard to play against", or "clears the net", or "sticks up for teammates". Hansen has been more of all those things so far this season... |

This is a decent idea ...but the leafs went on a run with kids like nylander and quickly sent them down |

I don't know, he's been ok, not good, not bad. It was a steep price to pay, but I'm ok with the move. - 1970vintage
Young vet RD cost a lot in today's NHL .... plus what Guddy lacks in offense he makes up in other intangibles ... hard to measure.... Would.be nice to have Macan but probably play on wing... they thought Granlund would be good enough to fill in.... so far looking good |

Leafs had a lot of experience. They were just crap players unfortunately. The likes of Boyes, Winnik, PAP, Spaling, Hunwick, Polak etc.
It was rough to watch. |

Loved the kids Rielly, Brownie and Marner straight in there.
Great character.
Kids played them hard tonight. Hopefully we won't have our fans or management female doging about that all week.
Hopefully no death threats are issued either. |
