Am i the only one that thinks the team was terrible against Buffalo and didnt even deserve the point they got.
They outshot the Sabres but all the shots were from low scoring areas. That game reminded me alot of the Boston series from 2013. All perimeter play, no one driving the net with or without the puck. Buffalo is a team we should absolutely roll over, especially considering they are without their two best players but instead we fell into their game plan of being forced to the outside and wasting shots that arent a threat to score on any goalie in this league.
Our team defense that was the crowning jewel of the Stanley Cup win is no where to be seen this year. - stackthepads
Can't expect them to block 30 shots a game like they did in the playoffs. No point. Need them healthy. Last thing you want is a guy taking a puck to the hand or foot and losing them for months |

Agreed. We aren't a fringe playoff team. Win with skill now. Tighten up later. |

Guentzel is not a Bonino replacement. He's too small to be a third line or better center in the NHL, just not happening. And the Penguins' FO has been pretty adamant that he's a winger in the NHL, not a center.
That said, very excited about him making his debut. I've been excited about the guy for years now, hard to believe how quickly he has progressed since singing his pro deal. |

He's also on the line I wanted him to be on. I just really think he could be Malkin's new Jokinen. |

Yes this is a solid point, and i agree that i dont want them jumping infront of wvery shot. But I still see less effort on the swarm defence that worked so well last year. Now it looks mechanical, that deep desire to win every 50/50 puck seems lacking to me this year. |

Well, it's not the playoffs. It's not even the second half of last season when they needed to win in bunches to make the playoffs. Desperation is a powerful motivator.
The question is whether they'll be able to turn it on later. In many games, they've turned it on when they've needed to. That's a good sign right now when it's so early and they're generally succeeding. |

The smothering offense that outshot and out-chanced the opponent in just about every game. Also I thought it was a masterful coaching job by Sully, changing his strategy on every opponent, so watching film rendered useless for the opposition. |
