The name is terribly uncreative. The other ones EK uses as reference have some kind of connection to the other sports teams of the city, the geography of the city, or alliteration (The Flyers), or two of those. Dropping "Las" is just the stupid icing on the stupid cake (sorry, anything more eloquent would have been a waste of time). The logo looks like clip-art. After spending (I can't remember exactly) $500 Million to get into the league it really seems like they took the cheap route on all of this... But, as many have already said, we'll all be calling them the Knights anyway, and their color scheme will probably change fairly soon too... - ritns028
YEah! I mean they could have gone with ritns028 instead...much more creative
Giving a crap about what the NHL named it's Vegas team, is as high on my interest level as what Colgate named their latest brand of tooth paste. The NHL in sin city is nothing short of a corporate money grubbing power move. Nothing to do with culture, history or design. It's about cash. The NHL sold it's soul long ago, so frankly I don't give a rat's ass. I'll cheer for the aspects of the game I still respect. But Vegas? It's logo? It's name? It's all about how many jerseys they can sell, and how many slot machines they can fit into the box seats.
In three years they will be renamed as the Nevada Knights - 2gals1dane
Man can't people get it they cannot change the name to just Knights? It's copyright the OHL London Knights and despite the owner trying to buy it, they said no. NOT happening EVER!

They are just playing hardball, 3 years should be enough time to come to an agreement.

It ain't happening even in 3 years. London won't give up their copyright for their team that they have had all along just to appease the owner. He already tried tossing money at them, they said no. It really isn't that hard to comprehend. Might as well hold out hope West Point backtracks and allows him to rename to Black Knights which he wanted all along if that was the case!
Note they have had the name since 1968 when they changed from the Nationals. Not gonna happen.

The name is okay I guess. I like that they left out Las, and just made it Vegas. Just Desert would have been better. Knights would have been best. Golden Knights is meh.
The jersey - I feel like it belongs in the movie "Dodgeball". Not sure why:
Honestly glad people seem excited for the Vegas team and looking forward to the expansion draft to see how they get put together initially.
That said I think someone needed to reign in the owner some. I get he wanted to tie to his west point days, and is very proud of such, but once he could not get Black Knights or just Knights due to copyright laws and West Point and London not willing to sell no matter the price, it was time to change tracks and come up with something else. Don't know if Black Aces was copyright and or taken but would have had the "Black" as a toss to West Point, tied to Vegas far better with Aces, AND had a hockey connection as the Black Aces are the cast off waiting players, ala expansion giving them something to rally and build on. We're going to show you type of mentality.
The logo is very simplistic, could have been tweaked more, maybe double border on the shield for more colour. Helmet choice is meh. I get the whole negative space V thing but it doesn't seem to fit and can't believe they didn't see the Spartan, Trojan, Magneto stuff coming a mile off. Colour wise lose that grey with the green tint and go straight black and then ensure it is GOLD not more of a bronze colour.
Secondary word logo is meh too. Straight Vegas with star on either end and three making an arch above ala the Vegas sign would have looked a little better. Don't like the line and V going through it. Seems clunky and rushed.
Thing is there was such potential but honestly don't know who they got to design it but kind of dissapointing they paid for that when fans on the net have come up with far superior designs all on their own. Feel like they left a lot of untapped potential on the table there.
As for the reveal, well that didn't quite go so well but lets hope the Owner was right and opening night goes far smoother. I think they missed the boat to really cash in not unveiling and selling the jerseys too, especially coming into xmas when people are going to drop cash bigtime. Perfect time to cash in, reap the benefits and make a nice lil slush fund.
Still could have been worse and not like teams have not changed their logo before too down the road. Just feel the name thing was the biggesst mistake/let down of the whole thing because it really just seems like an owner who just refused to change and just had to get his way regardless. - Roadrunner75
Those were the first things I said last night. It's a very "300" type helmet and I sort of get why they made it like that with the negative space "V". It has 2 meanings, Vegas and Victory. But "knight" is not the first thing I think of when I see that. Spartan is. But functional helmet design of that type all looks the same for a reason, because you have to cover the jaw and nose, and really, it's going to look the same no matter how you draw it up. Even from Spartan times through the Middle Ages it didn't really change.
Black Aces could've worked, but the league was/is very against any kind of gambling references.

True there but then it is also a hockey reference not really like say, Gamblers etc. Since the term has been around and used in hockey already it likely would have been ok I would think with the NHL. Then again don't know if it is copyrighted already.
Oh well, is what it is but I think they missed the boat on having something better for the long term. Have to wait and see.

amirite? - prock
If you mean it looks like someone drew it up on a Saturday afternoon then yeah, I agree.
personally I think its ridiculous to say people would hate on any name. i don't think that is the case. The name is fine. I hate the logo tho......but hey I'm just a hater i guess

I don't mind the name. Half the team's name means something geographical, but I guess who cares...
No penguins in Pittsburgh, no Panthers in Miami, No Kings in LA, etc..
As far as the logo, I think it's a fail..
Yes, It's nice to have something simple to be able to draw as a kid (I imagine EK still draws logos on his notebook while podcasting), however, it would have been nice for someone to research what a knight was and what their helmets looked like...
It's like the research went as far as typing "knights helmet" in google image search. Saw this on the first page
And said.. OMG, IT HAS A "V" FOR VEGAS....
then failed to see it was a fantasy drawing and has nothing to do with knights.... - l3ig_l2ecl
ummmm, you do know there is an actual animal named the Florida Panther and its found around Maimi

I hate it when people use shortened versions of teams names like the Hawks, Oil, Buds, Preds, Habs, Rags, Bo!ts, Isles, Caps, Sens, Wings, Nucks, Lames, Avs, Canes, yotes etc.
I'll never call them Knights. Always Las Vegas Golden Knights. - Iggysbff
