One thing Bylsma has done is improve 3 on 3 play tenfold

This teams inability to convert in overtime is amazing

We're missing out on too many points they need to go with Nilsson in the shootout I don't care if he's cold

I think he just doesn't have great hockey sense. He sprawls a lot in the crease during the game. When a guy with speed comes on a breakaway he can't react quick enough like a guy like Miller could.

This is where his size is a big disadvantage. When he is moving side to side it leaves his 5 hole open. He get beat clean all the time.

On Vaneks goal everyone in the building should have known what he was going to do...

Did I hear right that Lehner has let up 4 goals on 4 shootout attempts this year?

Yeah, I don't think he's made a save yet. At this point Bylsma has to seriously consider bringing Nilsson in for the shootout. He literally can't be any worse, the only thing he can do is hurt himself, which admittedly wouldn't be great.

Well, at least Crosby had a bounce back game. And Matthews finally got off the schneid too.

0.957 tonight and 0.925 for the season.

Maybe if the forwards shot for the net instead of the pipes - or if the ref was not a premature e-whistle-ator, Lehner wouldn't need to be good in SO's.

True. You know I'm a big fan of Lehner's, but he's seriously bad in the SO, even last year he wasn't great. It's certainly no help that his guys can't score in the SO either, but make a damn save every once and a while!

Somebody posted something similar a few days ago. I thought there was a rule that you could not bring in a goalie for the shootout.

I know its going to be a slow night tonight, but im on the west coast, so I just thought i'd throw this out for discussion.
Anyone wonder why there's centers with terrible faceoff percentages or goalies who cant stop a puck in a shootout?
I would think at some point in a players development, a coach would make a player practice basics like that.
I understand some centers wont be as good as others, but I have seriously heard guys say they have never really practiced faceoffs as centers before at the pro level.
Why wouldnt you?

Honestly, if we score more than a single goal a game, things like face offs and shootouts aren't a discussion.

Lehner was good. This team needs to play to win games, and needs a puck carrying D man badly.

Also, they need to keep Kane with Larsson, even when Eichel is vack. They play well together
