As much as I dislike Patches... he's worth alot more than a couple of chumps and a mid-range pick.
I could see him score 40+ next to a guy like Seguin.

As much as I don't like Pacioretty, I can't see the Habs winning a trade involving him. - _nay_
Exactly. They'll only be getting another "problem player" in return. |

Still think so, but I'll happily eat my words if the Habs win the cup in the next 3-5 years |

Ok, so at the quarter mark ( I realize everyone is sensitive after last year), leading the league and we're giving up our best goal scorer for a 45 pt centre? Don't hate but I disagree with this. Surely there are other assets available to acquire someone with Desharnais like production. - Pie
I would trade Pacioretty at the trade deadline or next summer but it won't happen if the Habs keep winning. Personally, I'm just not so sure about the assets they have. Sherbak+1st pick wouldn't fetch much IMO |

Weber makes this team better.
Will be the same when he's 38.
Both teams are happy = both teams win.

He has a pretty large sample size of very consistent goal scoring and excellent defensive play...plus he's really cost effective. Who would we get in a trade that would produce as much as he has and for the same salary? I can't think of one.
He's soft and shouldn't be the captain, those are my only issues.
Weber and Price are the true captains and softness can be balanced out with grittier players.
Not every player on the team has to be a hard ass, almost every team has a few soft players.
Be patient, let him work through it. - hunglikeapuck

I'm worried.
We've seen how much this team was clueless whitout Radulov. He's only signed for 1 year. If he keeps playing like that he's going to get a contract we can't afford elsewhere. |

Weber's a better D than Markov.
Markov can still play even if slow at 38.
There are no reasons unless Weber loses both knees to think he won't be able to help a team out at the age of 38.
He'll probably still be putting up points in the 45-55 range. |

He said he wants to stay here.
IT's only a matter of time before they iron a fait contract for both sides. |

They all say that. Because they don't want the media to have field day. He's going to look for a payday |

The guy seems to like playing/living in this province/city.

Markov's style of play is less physical and more forgiving on the body than Weber's.
I hope Weber will remain effective through the end of his contract, but there is reason to doubt.
A better comparable IMO would be Chara. |

At the same age Pronger was better. At 38 he was retired. |
