There are plenty of options to free cap space for the Kings before considering trading their 2nd best offensive player.

Gaborik, Brown, Lewis, Martinez would all go before him.

Carter ain't going anywhere unless it's a deal the Kings can't say no to (which wouldn't be a good news for the team acquiring Carter....)

ok "easy" is the wrong word but it's doable. now that said, i think the need/desperation to upgrade has only now become apparent. we're 20 games into the season now and Plekanec is on pace for 20 points. and this is not new. this is a continuation from his play over the last 3-4 months last year.
i don't think that was quite expected... like i said, i don't see anything indicating that Plekanec is bouncing back. i think a 40-point player right now would be an upgrade over him/DD/Mitchell.
