obviously the hate is over the top but the frustration is rational. especially now because we're seeing all of that secondary scoring dry up, as we expected. when Danault, Byron, and Mitchell were scoring at 30 goal paces it was OK that Pacioretty and Gallagher didn't score. now they need the offence from those 2. hopefully last night was a confidence booster for Max. - DoubleDown
Look at what Kessel fetched as a comparable
"In return Toronto gets centre Nick Spaling, forward Kasperi Kapanen, defenceman Scott Harrington, plus first- and third-round picks from 2016. Toronto will retain $1.2 million of Kessel’s salary in each of the next seven seasons. The Leafs are also sending forward Tyler Biggs, defenceman Tim Erixon and a 2016 second-round pick to Pittsburgh."

No thank you. |

of course not. that's why i don't understand the "trade Pacioretty" sentiment. you need gamebreakers like that, a guy who can score out of nowehere at any given time. at his best that's what Pacioretty is. we already lost one in Subban, can't afford to lose another. - DoubleDown
I agree, I think the 'C' has a lot to do with it as well. |

They got a top-6 super prospect and a guaranteed top-4 defenseman, plus a great fourth line centre. All for a cancerous one dimensional winger that eats hot dogs and will never win a cup. |

maybe i misunderstood what he was saying but i think Yan meant that Bergevin was looking to bring in some help, not to trade Pacioretty. i just don't see the benefit to trading Pacioretty. i don't believe that this is just who he is now... still confident he snaps out of it and grows a set of testicles at some pont. - DoubleDown
He has a pretty large sample size of very consistent goal scoring and excellent defensive play...plus he's really cost effective. Who would we get in a trade that would produce as much as he has and for the same salary? I can't think of one.
He's soft and shouldn't be the captain, those are my only issues.
Weber and Price are the true captains and softness can be balanced out with grittier players.
Not every player on the team has to be a hard ass, almost every team has a few soft players.
Be patient, let him work through it. |

I'm taking Pacioretty before the bolded names. No question.
Yes, (frank) Brad Marchand. - Scabeh
Zuccarello would be a great fit...he's a midget.
There's no point in trading Pacioretty as we're not like to get anyone better. So unless NO ONE likes him, you keep him. I know us fans aren't in love with the guy, but you don;t trade him for 75 cents on the dollar. |

The thing is some would like to see Pacioretty stand up for teammates, or at least for himself...but the guy is a big wussy. So a more realistic expectations should be that someone else stands up for our 30 goal scorer...but our other players are midgets.
Giving him the C was a mistake...in hindsight giving it to Subban wouldn't have worked out either...Plekanec wouldn't have been better...so Gallagher or Markov? Those were my choices but not ideal... Knowing Therrien, Mitchell and Flynn were on the short list.

Guy scores 37 goals once and he's "amazing".
He's a good player, a complete dippoop and he had one great season.
I'll give him that he also seems to perform when it counts.
