it's the system they are playing.... there are enough goal scores on this team. at some point he has to take the leash off the dog and let it run. - gordong
The injuries are the biggest problem.

The ultimate example.
I am trying really hard to remember a Pro sports team that relies so heavily on one guy. Maybe the Cavaliers? Even Gretzky, Jordan, Manning or Lemieux never carried a team the way Price does.

Well good call then on Girgensons. As far as Moulson, as stated we had to overpay to get the guy (remember we had just traded him for (2) second round picks). The first couple years were pretty bad with him, but he is coming back around. As for the goalie, he did win the AHL championship and sure he was not proven in the NHL, otherwise you would have paid a lot more (how proven was the player drafted with that pick in the NHL?). Also, remember that trading Miller (and Ott) almost netted (2) 1st round picks and Carrier, Chris Stewart, and Halak. Would you want to pay that for a "proven" goalie? The only reason it was not (2) 1st round picks was because he did not resign there, so they traded that (minus 1 first rounder) for like 4 months of Miller's services. - Lilroot9
The conditional 1st was if they made the conference finals that year, they didn't so it dropped. But yeah they were willing to give up a solid goalie in Halak, their new 2nd round pick in Carrier and 2 1st round picks for Miller, a goalie who proved he could make the conference finals with an insanely talented team, but other than that it was first round exits for him. Ott and Stewart were a wash. |

I think right now, they are stuck with him
3 qb's in pipeline, all 3 are running qb's
our wr's are small, which is why I would like them to sign britt and aiken
if you fix the o line, then it could be ok
russel wilson was a run first qb when he won the super bowl
move away from the smurfs, harvin and goodwin, and get some size
draft nothing but db's and o linemen at draft - homiedclown
Britt would fit right in with the rest of the Deplorables on the team, how many suspensions has he had? I actually think he could do well here relatively speaking of course. |

The Bills offense is outscoring the 93, 94 and 95 Bills. They need a defense that can stop people and get turnovers. That all went out the when Rex came in. - Buffalo--Sabres
Yeah, but the offense is boom or bust, they make their hay on big plays, and if your defense is out there for 35, 36, 40 minutes a game it's really tough to win. The games the Bills win are the ones they control the ball. They got lucky yesterday having the ball for only 26:25.
Don't get me wrong big plays are great, but McCoy had 103 yards yesterday with 75 coming on one play your leading rusher shouldn't have only 28 yards minus one big play.
The defense is also ranked 10th in yards, that's pretty good. |

The conditions were if they resigned him or made conference finals. But yea, semantics. Still a lot to give up, compared to what we gave up. As it would be, was that pick from Miller trade used on Lehner or Kane? |

Hasek carried his Sabres teams like no other, IMO. That '99 team had no business being two games away from a Cup. Nice role players with character, but Hasek was damn-near unbeatable in his prime. Only way you could beat him was on a deflection or an outright screen where he had no clue where the puck was. |

From Tanner's new blog:
1. a player can go 13 games without a goal (Auston Matthews) and not be in a slump because he still gets an elite level of shots and scoring chances
2. most of the Hockey World doesn't realize the Panthers success last season was partially, if not mostly, because of favorable results
This just gets back to the same business I have never understood. Points in the standings come from wins and ties - winning and ties require GOALS to be scored, not just shots to be taken.
Also, someone please define "favorable results" doesn't that mean they won games? If so, do we need math to analyze the second statement? - Der Kaiser
My first thought was WTF does that mean? My second was it's gibberish. My third is I'm pretty sure Tanner picked the Panthers to win the East this year.

It means that the Panthers were slightly over rated last season. They had a bunch of players shoot incredibly high shooting %. They were bound to drop. It's just a poorly worded sentence by Tanner.

Very true in Hasek. He stole every round for us. We had no scoring, a middle of the road D and no back up. It was a fun cup to watch until the refs got tired and let a clear crease violation go |

The Sabres scored 1 goal in the last 160 plus minutes of play in that series. That's why they lost. No Goal, while infuriating, was only a secondary reason they lost that series at most. |

If Jack comes back...and we still can't score more than 1.81 goals per game.....GMTM fires Disco or he gets the Ax himself
21 games played and only 38 goals....HOW THE (frank) DOES HE STILL HAVE A JOB?!?!
EDIT: and don't give me that "o but the injuries.." bullpoop.....Moulson, Ennis, Reinhart, Risto, Okposo....they all know how to score but they magically can't do that playing in Disco Dan's "system"...w/e the (frank) that is....all we've seen is our young talent either stagnate or regress....
but lets give him a pass...cuz he won a cup....with Crosby, Malkin, MAF, and Letang
EDIT EDIT: I've said it before and I'll say it again.....Ted Nolan would have more wins with this team.....that's how clueless Bylsma has been |
