I'm wondering how good Horvat has to get before people start rethinking this theory that there is no succession plan for Henrik?
Horvat has a couple of years to improve before we say bye to Hank and he's already producing #1 point totals from the middle 6. Horvat may not develop into an elite #1C, but with the right linemates, could give us a very productive 1st line in a couple of seasons *MAYBE*...
Then there is still the possibility that we draft a potential #1 in the next two drafts with Horvat being the stop gap for a season or two...
We have been keeping all our first rounders unlike previous regimes. Patience.

Pretty much my thought too. Unless they are drafting a center, who has a higher ceiling then a winger or D at that pick. |

I don't see doom and gloom. I am quite looking forward to seeing the next gen step in. I never really like the old core so I will be happy when it has switched. |

I consider this game do or die for Willie D, I have the feeling that unless he wins and wins convincingly, he's going to be let go. The sad fact is, it really isn't all his fault, the Sedins just aren't first line players any longer and they have no one behind them to protect them so that they aren't focused on. It doesn't help that JB has stacked the team and the farm with grinders and what skill we did have was traded away.
Like I said in the last thread, it's time to make a clean sweep of the organization, from TL down. I'd like to see everyone fired from Trevor Linden down and JB demoted to either AGM or Head of Scouting and then start completely over. This team needs a new vision, one that doesn't include worrying about playoffs or Stanley Cups and one that focuses solely on regaining respectability.
The fact of the matter is, save for Boeser, Demko, OJ, Hutton, Stecher, Horvat, Tryamkin and possibly Virtanen, there's no one on the team I would consider worth keeping at this point. And even with those above, if the right deal came along that would give us a highly touted prospect or lottery pick in return, I'd do it. I'm of the mind that we need to stop trying to emulate other team's success and try to find our way and own style of play that works.
The fact that we have the worst travel in the NHL is always going to hold us back. We suffer more injuries to our players than the NHL average and I truly believe that's because of the travel we have to do. The fact that we play in the Western Conference and Pacific Division that has 3 really physically aggressive teams is also a hold back.
tl;dr I don't have the answers, but I think it's time to try something new and completely out the box. - DariusKnight
I feel your dispointment and frustrations with the team struggles. However, isn't that what happens in a rebuild?
Not sure about what skill JB traded away? He had no choice with Kessler and got what he could being limited on trade partner. As for the rest big contracts and aging assets need to be moved for a r building team that is trying to get yoinger and faster. Some of the players you mentioned plus other young assets wouldn't be here without these moves. Trades were to fill in development gap of youth layer missing
I don't think JB contract would allow for a demotion. But get him help in other areas like trades and contracts would be a new way to go with oversight on Linden enhancing his role with support team for management.
But bottom line it takes time. It's a lotto situation and if you lose well then you don't get instant offensive NHL ready high end talent. They will try to be competitive and try to win. Though I don't see any desperate moves being made to trade players and future for older vets. Like a Neely for Peterson trade. |

Yup also curious to see Gaudette Lockwood and Brisebois. If one or two can make the team it would be a bonus. |

Sure that is probably in line and agree.
I would add that Bo looks to have the right tools and make up to be a 1C in the Bergeron and Toews type. Maybe not as good but we won't know for a while. Plus those players needed a good team around them to rise up too. Right now, Bo just needs scoring help. He's not the Seguin & Tavares scoring machine 1C but few ever are really. Plus he's no generational like Mcdavid and Crosby. So we get too caught up in the lack of certainty and instant results.
I'd remind many that Hank was projected for years as being no better then 3C maybe 2C on good and bad Canuck teams as they rebuilt. Developing offensive dominance and consistency takes time and is part of the prime years. Few show that ability early on. |

In all seriousness, if you can get past the lack of punctuation, the ramblings that sometimes have you go "WTF" does all this mean, and not proof reading and correcting spelling.
He does at times have valid points and does lend some good thoughts on some situations. Past is past, I've seen some good conversations between Nuck4U and a few posters, for the most part everyone here is accepting, hell who ever thought kaptaan and Marwood would end up BFF's.

To be fair, I mean the marginal trades he made like Forsling for Clendenning and Shinkaruk for Granlund, not that they'd have been much of difference makers on the NHL level, but they were effective on the Comets and would have made probably at least better injury call-ups skill-wise than Megna, Skille, Grenier etc.
It just seems like most of the trades he's made were for less high-end potential skill and more two-way hockey skill. Not that that's necessarily bad, but when you stuff your team full of those types of players, you end up with what you've got now, a team that can barely score and is hard-pressed to defend because they can't put enough pressure on to keep the puck in the offensive zone and can't get shots through which immediately puts the team on their heels in transition. |

Gaudette and Lockwood may be in college still? - boonerbuck
Yeah College guys ususally stay to finish degrees off rather then risk going to camp. They don't want to not make it and play for peanuts in the minors. Not at expense of losing out of their eligibility and scholarship for a free college ride.
Lockwood is a freshman so I don't see him risking attending a camp to lose his college eligibility. He probably needs another year to build up his credits. Gaudette is showing right now the same scoring proficiency as BB but less hype and expectation. He's older so he might leave and finish off his college degree like other have before him. If Canucks see him as 3rd line center for next season they could extend a contract to him so he makes the jump and comes to training camp.
BB also would have to get assurances of getting a spot on the team to leave. |

I would have said "Amen" but am I allowed to?
(what has our world come to?)
We are pretty "blessed" (am I allowed to say that as well?) to have Carol....I think its the respect she gives to the other teams, and backing it up with facts, and the articles being fun to read. (the voice in my head when reading is of a friend, who knows their sh**....with a female voice of course)
Almost everyday, I get to hear my buddy; who knows their stuff and is able to get a little peek behind the curtain; talk hockey. We are so fricken lucky |
