I was so proud of the C+ I received in high school physics, and that was with open book formulas. Math is hard.... - Tomfan365
I swear, I should just be an algebra teacher. The fact that people can't understand algebra is the fault of the teachers, not on the students. If you can do the 4 basic numeric operations, algebra is easy. |

it's just bad for my health. i mean, the flyers are, in general, but going just is so much worse.
every time i think i miss being there, i remind myself of how i almost fought another flyers fan in the defense of jvr. JVR!!!!!!!
JFC. - hammarby31
One of my best times at a game was JVR's return to Philly game. Walked in wearing a JVR Jersey. Give the polite cheer first shift. Later in the game scream at the top of my lungs when JVR had the goalie screened on a power play, "COBURN, MOVE JVR YOU IDIOT" Everyone around me looks at me and someone said "Dude you are wearing his jersey." My reply, "He's a Leaf now" |

But then you run the risk of having Neuvirth taken, then you're scrambling to extend Mason before July 1st. - jmatchett383
There will be other goalies available. Until Mase is back above .910 I'm not really looking at signing him to any new contract. |

Okay, tell Emery that you're signing him to a one-year, two-way deal worth $650K NHL ($70K elsewhere) with a $200K signing bonus that kicks in July 1st, and that you will be assigning him to the ECHL day one of the season. As of July 1st, he can decide if he wants to mutually terminate or not. |

I am expecting it to rise as the season progresses. At this point, I'm not confident going into next year with Stolarz and Lyon as my only goalies. |

Emery is toast. No team in their right mind would sign him to anything unless it was for expansion draft shenanigans

I do - stock the minors and have a potential NHL goalie at the same time |

Stolarz is exactly the type of goalie that an expansion team would want. Not as their starter, granted. |

but there are better goalies to do that with so ehhhh. hes one of the tallest ones so maybe. I would pick Laughton or Cousins before I picked Stolarz |

I still don't get why Mike Richards was booed like Crosby. The guy signed an 11-year deal to be here, he wanted to be a Flyer for life. He didn't ask to be traded or hold out for money, he was traded. He captained us to a Stanley Cup Final. Someone please explain this to me. |

Me neither, but at this point I think Stolarz has to be protected and everything else with the goalies is secondary.
That can change depending on how the goalies play in the next 59 games (+ possibly playoffs), but for now, neither Mason or Neuvirth has earned a new contract, let alone earned the right to be protected from Vegas. |

He's young, cheap, can pass waivers, and is a top-10 AHL goalie right now. He'd be great as a backup or to be groomed in the AHL for an expansion team.
Hey, we won last night. Where has PLind been all day to congratulate the Flyers on their victory? |

I agree, he has to be the one protected. I did find it odd that you suggested signing Neuvirth but not Mason, unless you think their asking prices will have a huge gap. |

for argument's sake, let's say he was never traded. would he still be on the team now? or another team? i mean, he's not even in the league anymore. it's not like he's old. |

Okay. But if Mason's save % doesn't rise, I'd expect his number to drop quite a bit. Still, having a throw-away guy makes life a lot easier. |

Much like Dustin Brown, yes, he'd still be on the team. And we'd all hate him for it. THEN he would deserve the boos.
But I mean, why do you think he had a pill problem? The guy played like he was 6'5 220 lbs. He basically broke his body trying to help us win and couldn't cope with the physical pain, so he turned to pills and got hooked. |

He's pretty far from that right now so he'll need to play at about .918 the rest of the way to get there. |

there are several teams in the same position as the Flyers as far as not having more than one guy signed for the 2017-2018 season. Going to be interesting. just looking over the names who should be available (not taking into account trades that could happen) Vegas will have the following to choose from Bernier (UFA), Smith or Domingue, Khudobin or Subban, Lehner or Ullmark, Ward or Lack, Darling (UFA), Lehtonen or Niemi, Howard or Mrazek (gotta think Howard), Luongo or Reimer (with Luongo being 37 and signed through 2022 maybe they leave him unprotected?), Raanta, Hammond, Murray, Gudlevskis and Grubauer. Nashville has 3 young goalie prospects who will be exposed.
they will do ok with finding goalies. I would take Murray for sure. looking for a young guy and considering what else Boston will expose, Subban could be a good choice. lots of vets to choose from. |
