I think he should have had the first one but I chalk that up to nerves. he looked a little nervous at the get go but relaxed after that goal. I was happy with his game. was disappointed they sort of fell asleep at the wheel in the third allowing the last 2. Mason is the guy but I would like to see Stolarz get several starts this year. He very well could be the backup next year.
Speaking of, when does the expansion draft happen? is it before or after free agency starts. Its going to be interesting to see what the Flyers do with the goaltenders. you have to figure Vegas will select 2 NHL goalies (Murray would be one I would think unless the Pens figure out a way to get Fleury to waive his NMC) and then 1-2 prospects. Subban could very well be one from Boston who will protect Rask. I would hate to see the Flyers lose a kid like Stolarz after investing so much time in him as a prospect. - nastyflyergirl
Before...happens at the end of june. Selections get announced the 21st they've announced. Vegas will take at least 3 and maybe 4 goalies
From the NHL...they've got the finish of PEB
The 30 NHL Clubs must submit their Protection List by 5:00 P.M. ET on Saturday, June 17, 2017. The Las Vegas team must submit their Expansion Draft Selections by 5:00 P.M. ET on June 20 and the announcement of their selections will be released on made on June 21. |

What the heck!!!
Why is Leighton playing back in the NHL again?! My day is ruined! - coffee junkie
I don't really hate Leighton. Arguably, without him, they don't make the playoffs in 2010, let alone reach the Cup Finals. I know it ended poorly and yeah, that goal sucked (believe me, I know, I was there), but Leighton definitely contributed to the success of that team.
Leighton's journey through professional hockey is mind boggling. |

But an elite player beat him for a goal that ended a Stanley Cup final so he is garbage.

I have been to a lot of lv phantoms games and think stolarz has real potential but imo he's not ready for full time nhl duty yet. |

Well, granted, that's a goal that hammarby, or even the carcass of Harambe, could stop. But yeah, they don't make it there without him...but it still (frank)ing sucks. |

I believe it was Cousins who stopped a juicy looking wraparound attempt with a strong stick. Great defensive play, and one that Gudas whiffed on when Turris scored on Mason. - YuenglingJagr
i mentioned this to Jsaq last night. i'm still annoyed by Gudas on that play, and he was in better position as he was already there at the post. almost zero effort. great play by Cousins. love our kids. |

It is fun but also scary to watch sometimes. Several plays he is back so far and you are just used to seeing a smaller guy in net. You're first thought is why is he back so far, then you see he is still covering the net. He will continue to be more fun to watch as he refines his ability to use his size and athleticism - YuenglingJagr
a lot of goalies are really starting to play deeper in the net, less aggressive and allowing the game come to them. especially the bigger ones...no reason to be that aggressive.
jimmy howard is an example of a guy who has taken this approach this season, and it's paying off.

It's funny. I still play goal about 3 times a week in a league and still really enjoy playing the position. I'll be watching the Flyers or another game with friends and say what a great save, on a play that would seem routine to them. I just have an appreciation of the skill required for the high level tenders to make save on these laser beam shots and make it look routine. I just wish all the people who rag on our tending (and tenders in general) could see it from that perspective. You know when a guy has a chance and conversely when the team has left him out to dry.
For instance, although it would have been nice to get a miracle save on each of Friday's 2 first goals..the first was an epic breakdown and pass to a guy in prime scoring area and the other was essentially a breakaway. Odds are not on the goalie's side there. - Hextall271

guys like Price just amaze me as he makes it all look so easy. The new composite sticks over the last decade and a bit have made it so everyone has a blast instead of just some guys. I can't even imagine facing a shot by weber. You wouldn't even see it. - Hextall271
he's making it look easy...NOW. as talented as he is, go back and watch tape from early in his career. he's gotten better. and better. and worked really hard to get there. as much as i hate the habs, i enjoy watching him play.

Absolutely. As a goalie, you can't allow a rebound to end up in the slot like that.
Going back to my youth, playing defense, we were instructed to try to tie up the sticks of opposing players on potential rebound situations. I would have liked to see MacDonald be a bit more aggressive in trying to tie up the stick of Chaisson, or even to try to seal him off and prevent him from getting to the puck. But that rebound was pretty atrocious.
Even if MacDonald had tied up the stick, Chaisson could have easily kept driving the net and had the puck go off his leg or skate and gotten a similar result. - Jsaquella
sometimes they happen. speed, spin etc...
and sometimes, it's actually the right spot to put it if there's no trailer and the opposition is on the other side waiting for that angled deflection.
brodeur, as an example, was great at booting pucks into seemingly dangerous areas. he did it intentionally because he was able to read the play and keep it away from where the players were supposed to be.

I'm certainly not a goaltending expert, but I think that when a goaltender is quiet in the net, so to speak, they're on their game. There's an economy of movement, and they're always balanced and square. Price makes a lot of saves look easy and routine, when they're really not. Then you see shooters hesitating, and making bad decisions simply because they don't think they can beat him. |

That was a difficult play, even for a top goaltender. Sometimes the location and angle of the shot, is going to make a rebound almost impossible to prevent. I think that was one of those occasions. |
