It is a horrible comparison, it's an outdated way of thinking, we know better now, marathoners might not be great sprinters like for 100m, but they can run a mile really fast. They just specialize because running a marathon is hard work. I know right? Who'd have thunk it? - Wetbandit1

See, you have it backwards there, guy.
I'm not saying the MARATHON RUNNER will have a hard time running a mile, I'm saying the MILE RUNNER will have a hard time running a marathon, hence the 12 minute combine win does not = 24 minutes stopping and starting and slamming into other dudes going full-speed.
An outdated way of thinking? Let me guess.... you voted for Trump? |

There's no competition going on. Either you see it like I do or you don't. I think of all the things he excells at his ENDURANCE IS HIS WEAKEST TRAIT and have said that is SAYING A LOT since the ONE FAULT I'M FINDING IN HIS GAME IS HIS ENDURANCE.
FFS
The kid looks more winded than the other guys, who honestly don't look all that winded. Much like Ristolainen looked very fatigued at the end of the last Nolan year and less so at the end of last year, I think Eichel and this is important:
EICHEL, having played in the USA Hockey program, which has made strides in the past decade but is still eons behind the Canadian program, and having played Hockey in College instead of minors, as well as learning how to pace yourself over a 60 minute game that you play a 1/3 of, stretched over an 82 game schedule leads me to believe, based off observation, he simply does not have the Endurance of his peers.
Do I need to write an essay? It's something that can be worked on once he learns how to pace himself, much like the guy running a mile vs the guy running a marathon comparison.
You put me in an air controlled environment, well-rested and with top of the line shoes, I can probably slam-dunk a basketball. Put me in a game and I'll probably get slam-dunked on before I even touch the ball.
Hence Combine results do not = Real life results.
Otherwise we would have never heard of a guy named Tom Brady. - BeadyEyedDouche

It was his first game back for cheese and rice... I would say scoring 2 points is pretty impressive. |

Did you see that shift by larsson, three times on one shift, he moves to quick and loses the puck so much,it is frustrating - Buffalo39
Yeah, he's obviously not PK88
But the kid can play in the league
His line has done pretty damn well this year overall,
and he's been a big part of that
Like I said before...
we aren't skilled enough yet to put him on the 4th line
But when we do,
Larsson will be one of the top 4th line centers in the whole league
Not some fringe NHLer like u claim |

I saw Franson on a list of top15 trade deadline targets
I'll take a 3rd for him
Maybe a 2nd since teams like to overpay for defensemen |

So they do the combine in VR now? Cool. The combine is real life and in real life he was the best out of his peers at going the longest to failure. There are a number of reasons for that to be sure, like he hadn't played in a while, while some guys were coming off of playing 2 weeks before that. That's certainly going to have an effect on your performance.
You're saying all the above but ignoring last year where he played way better in the second half of the season. Sure he hit a bit of a wall around Christmas, but after that 5 or 6 day break he came back and was way better than before going at almost a PPG pace over the last half.
His defensive positioning is by far his worst trait, something he's actually not very good at, as well as faceoffs. Something else he's not good at. His endurance is amazing considering all the things you listed like not having played a long season before and considering the fact that he was a 19 year old kid going up against men in their 20's and 30's who were bigger and stronger than him.
I understand what you're saying, I'm saying I don't agree with it. At all. And unless you have a camera on the bench all game and that's literally all you watch how could you possibly say he's more out of breath than the other guys? A 12 second clip isn't going to tell you much, and if anything it will lead you in the wrong direction.

I don't get Disco Dan's love affair with the Gionta/Larsson/Foligno line. They're (almost) literally out there every other shift.
Zero puck awareness until it hits their stick.
My personal favorite is the Foligno play: Skate to center and pin the puck against the bench boards for 30 seconds, then don't change lines. |

I agree
But overall, he's been a nice player for us
That line has played well for us this year...
and MANY nights they were our 2nd line
