Its always kinda bothered me. This is the firsr time in a long time that weve had any depth, but in years prior this was a poopty team overall. Pointing out the flaws of player A,B,C or D when there were about 8 or 9 0n the roster that shouldnt be in the NHL is annoying. Its like pointing out a broken tail light on a car thats on fire.

At least now were talking about 3rd liners and not top pair defenders.

If it were only scoring woes with Pouliot, I wouldn't be concerned but he's even lost some effectiveness on the forecheck. Whether that's a mental thing or a physical thing I don't know, but he doesn't have that same "dog going after a bone" type of attitude when forechecking this year. On the other hand, both Pitlick and Slepyshev have looked very solid in this capacity while producing better numbers and being better fits for guys like Draisaitl (R shot shooters).

That they scratched Slepyshev is what's most confusing to me. He had ramped it up in both play and production. At least with Pitlick they could point towards a drop off in production.

His play since he's been back has really pissed me off. Seems to be playing worse since he got back in the lineup, no drive whatsoever. Hope he can turn it around soon though
