I thought for sure it would end up in a SOL. The last shootout he was good as well and of course the shooters couldn't do poop. Important win after almost choking away another 3 period lead. Phew
How does Marchand deliberately show up the officials and not get a delay and/or misconduct? Grow some balls stripes. He should of gotten two for hooking, two for roughing, two for delay of game and a 10 min misconduct. That was unbelieveable!

Forget that i wanted so badly for him to grow some actual balls and go at it with Simmer, but he's too smart. He knows Simmonds would obliterate him. What he did to Mase was so predictable and everything he's about. Too bad Hexy wasn't the one manning the net, he would've knocked him into another dimension if he did that to him.

I want this to be our Bad Goalie Steve Mason victory gif. To celebrate......but to also remember that deep down, at his very core, he is indeed Bad. - Mononoke

I know you are joking, but the endless replays of that goal drive me up a wall.
Yup, Mason is horrible....
...just like Martin Brodeur...
...and Tony Esposito (center ice goal by Jacques Lemaire that turned around Game 7 of the 1971 Cup Finals against Montreal with Chicago leading game 2-0 at time the Lemaire goal was scored)
... and Bernie Parent (no video exists, but he allowed a 3/4 ice goal to Barry Gibbs in a game tied 0-0 in the third period -- ultimately a 1-0 loss -- that the Flyers needed to win on final day of the regular season to get into the playoffs. Bernie then said he lost the puck in the sun due to glare coming in through the concourse).
Of course Mason is not of the caliber of these HHOF goalies but I got a big laugh out of the Milbury and Roenick types who called the Game 2 vs Washington goal in the first round "the worst goaltending mistake in playoff history" and cited that single play as their evidence why the Flyers couldn't win with Mason (never mind fact he was Flyers' best player in seven-game series against a far superior Rangers team two springs earlier and damn near stole Game 7 in a 2-1 loss that should have been 7-1).

I honestly don't know if I've seen a replay of that goal since it happened. It helps that I avoid pre-game and national media stuff where they'd show it.

This is a game where I wish it was JR and Milbury both doing the studio work. They'd both be forced to begrudgingly admit Mason played well.
But then they'd wake up tomorrow like a host in Westworld who just got a memory wipe. Perhaps the trauma of seeing Mason play well would eventually resurface when the Man in Black plays the highlights for them, leading them towards consciousness.....but I digress.
-Andrew MacDonald kills me. The MacDonald/Gostisbehere pairing needs to stop.
- Lyubimov needs to stay in the lineup. His speed and tenacity on the fore check is an asset.
- Great game from Mason
- I am actually not minding Schenn in the middle with Lyubimov and Vandevelde. Would prefer to add another skilled wing but Schenn looks more engaged comepared to the earlier games.
just some random thoughts

Plind reporting for duty after a Flyers win. Don't want to be absent when attendance is taken.
Mason was amazing. Stole 2 points singlehandedly. Not a great formula moving forward, but 2 points is 2 points.
Why the hell is MacDonald on the ice during overtime?? - PLindbergh31
Attendance is taken until 9am. So you are good.
MacDonald wasn't actually that bad last night, though I was surprised he was on the ice for the OT.
I watched some of the Phantoms game last night and I can't wait to see Morin get a chance at the NHL level at some point later in the season.Plays well on PK and never hurts to have another physical Dman.

Because the coach feels that the other players are better options. Duh
