Remember, Cap # gets prorated...
so we actually do have room to bring in salary
Especially at deadline time

And after this season with the contracts we have coming off the books,
We'll be in even better shape

I was hesitant going into the Ottawa game about how he'd look. I guess I was just trying to make sure I didn't have unrealistic expectations. Made a bet with Homer that he wouldn't get a point in that game. He proved me wrong pretty quickly.

I thought he played one of his best games as a Sabre last night. Even though it took until the 3rd for him to score, he was giving the Rangers a lot of grief all night.

According to CapFriendly, we're 16th when it comes to what we have available in cap space. That means there are 15 other teams that have LESS space than we do. Plus, they haven't put McCormick on LTIR, even though he qualifies.

If we're in cap hell at 16th, then the league has some serious problems.

When his confidence increase more he is going to be scary good. The respect from other players already is incredible. He gets the puck and guys back off. I love it! Then he moves towards them, makes a "simple" pass / play and keeps moving forward. Incredible. His shot placement is top notch, even when he shoots low to generate a rebound.

Perhaps. It's good to see him come out and play like his hair is on fire. If we're going to be successful, he needs to play like that more often than not. It just amazes me how much different this team looks with him on it than without. In general, one player really SHOULDN'T make that much of a difference, but in this case, it certainly does.

They say the great players of the league make the players around them better, and I for sure think Jack fits that bill 100%.

But I know that was a REALLY REALLY BAD AND UNINFORMED TAKE.

I am not sure of specifics, but I think the NHL should not charge cap space usage (on a per day rate) for players that are injuried for a week (so not on LTIR). So things where O'Reilly were injured for a week, his cap hit was still there and that is why we are so tight.

Boy, this place sure feels different than 22 games ago...

sure are fun to watch.... Gonna be interesting to see if 10 games in with jack how we all feel. I agree though the kid makes everyone better. I think a lot of that is people are slotted where they should be....

Jake played like a different player last night... Where did that come from???? Talk about a 2 game swap!!! I kind of expect to see that from Risto, but not McCabe.

I agree with a lot of this. We have space, but not a ton. But it's not like we're in a super terrible position, because we're not. Toronto actually has less room than we do (they're in 15th, so I'm sure it's not a huge difference).

I didn't say we were in cap hell, someone else did. I was actually pointing out that if people think we're in cap hell, then there's some serious league-wide issues going on because we're in the top half of the league in terms of available space.

Eichel is on pace for 120 points almost. No big deal
