the team has no push or sense of urgency. Its a coaches job to correct that. Crack the whip.
That'll never happen with this coach - SMBDragon
But how? What has he not done in this game that makes you think he doesnt push for urgency?

I've not seen much of him, but seems like folks in the media have big opinions of him:

When I watch Stecher I think of Rafalski
What do you guys think - Is he the real deal, or is it just a case of performing well in a small sample size...? |

He certainly looks like the real deal. Eager to be a pro, good maturity, but too small of a sample size to know for sure what we have in him. Looks to be a fantastic pickup by JB so far though. |

Good stuff. Getting a couple of those guys, especially at that age, can really help get things back on track |

Canuck D looked good. Ducks played disciplined game and took away pass options. Grinding game played to their favor. Miller was outplayed by Gibson. Duck Kryptonite |

My bad i just commented repeating something i read somewhere earlier about us being bad vs. Pacific opponents. I believe we are 5-5? Still needs to be a positive shoft vs. The weak division |

I'll wait till he gets 30-40 games before declaring him the real deal
He's that new age style of D-man like Juolevi with High IQ that isn't physical but separates you from the puck. |

Anaheim and LA are the ones we need to be winning against more often. They are not as good as we make them look. |

That's killer - and that's the type of guy that Keith has developed into; dude has thrown less than 100 hits combined in the last 4 and a quarter years regular season. Guys are starting to realise that smart stick work gives you the puck a lot more than a big hit, which looks better, but doesn't often result in the puck ending up on your stick.
I do like the selection of OJ for you guys too - again, definitely my preferred type of d-man |

I hoping for Markstrom Saturday. Miller kinda stunk. The team as a whole was slow but we still had a chance before that 3rd goal and I would have let it go if we lost 2-1 but he crushed all hopes of the comeback.
Not like we let a win slip away or anything... it's just this was the kind of game I expected against Minny though. |

Think how many times the puck was in great position with Canucks all around it on the 5 on 3. Six or seven times someone probably should have got a stick on it but just so damn slow to react... a couple of quality passes through the slot as well but no one was paying attention.
Do the Canucks get the Roxy Flu? |

For sure - that D-man is definitely important to get. I'm over the moon that we got Zaitsev, he looks the real deal. Playing in the K since age 18 helps also, and he's got a couple of all-star credentials on his resume too which is always nice (KHL and worlds). He started a bit slowly while adapting, but has played very well with Rielly. Now, we just need to replace Hun-lak and we might actually have an NHL D on our hands!!! |

Both are still better teams than the canucks ...maybe the gap is closing but to be expecting wins against Cali teams is wishful thinking imo |

I don't know if that's the way the NHL is going. We'll see.
Stecher and Juolevi are analytic darlings. Because analytic guys believe in the first pass. Chayka, and you're assistant GM (I forget his name) would probably prefer Juolevi with his incredibly high shot suppression, and possession stats,
Old school GM's would lean more towards Sergachev.
Interesting to see whats what. |

For sure, Dubas is a big analytics proponent. Personally I think you need the balance, as having the analytics darlings is nice, but you still need to make sure that your guys can keep their heads above water in all situations.
The big thing IMO is that they need to be able to skate well, and handle the puck, even if they don't put up points - the worst is to have guys like Polak/Schenn/Doug Murray who are big, but handle the puck like it's a grenade, and end up taking dumb penalties as they overcompensate for their lack of skill. |
