I think we have seen plenty of games with bad D play. You know, with giveaways, oddman rushes and running around in zone leaving players wide open in the slot. Did this game resemble that?

This is my observation from the beginning has nothing to do with anyone else. What do you want to base play on? Corsi? Other stats? Whatever the angle it's still better then other versions or play of late. That said Edler and Tanev if on their game would improve D. That doesn't take away that they played well enough now.

Well I certainly will not base their play on your observations. I base my observations on the eye test. None of the D could get the puck out of the zone, several times in a row. There was no man coverage, there was no tape to tape passes. There was scrambled play chasing the puck, there were two defenders going behind the net, there was no body contact, the D sucked.

They played well enough alright, well enough to suck at defending, and I'm being a realist.

The difference is the forwards and possession with execution and goaltending. I agreed before about the hitting. They had no big hits or take aways. Seemed postionally concerned more. Ducks were extremely structured. Which took away from adding life to the game.

But you are free to say you hate the D and they suck.

If you're not a playoff coach it's hard to imagine you can even fathom being an urgency coach.
Definitely time to trade, demote or waive Edler & Tanev now that the Canucks have an all star defense.
