You will need to find a d to expose. Moreover, one of Granlund and Baertschi (along with Gaunce) will be exposed. You are screwed if both of these guys our perform Strome. Just trade Hansen in TDL for the best pick. That way you can keep both Granlund and Baertshi. Unless its Duchesne coming back, no way you trade Tanev. - Rocket_Launcher
We have Sbisa, Biega and possibly Pedan to expose on D. Tanev would have been protected. As for Strome it just replaces Hansen on protective status. If only 3 D protected Canucks can protect 7. So it leaves 1 of Granlund/Rodin and Guance. With that factor I'd sell one of them at TDL for exempt prospect. Or see if team in off-season has room for them for draft pick. Still have DD or Skille for minimum.

Lol. Dam autocorrect. Fixed. So you think Rodin can be replacement for Hansen. - Nuck4U
I think one day Gaunce will be a good Hansen replacement... he's a slow developer like Hansen was and also plays a good defensive game to keep developing through it like Hansen did... I don't think it's important to immediately replace Hansen. I'm just thinking longer term.

I don't think it would be to soon to make changes to the defense, people are enoying watching tryamkin and stecher, which is good because if trade edler/tanev people will still watch because guys like that, win or lose our team is more set up for the future. - phyllee
I'm not saying we should not make changes (I could get behind moving either tanev or edler), just think we clearly need 8 good D to compete and don't think we should get too ahead of ourselves after 1 good game. |

Good plan, plus wait for NYI to protect Strome and then trade for him in off season if we want him. They would likely need to take a smaller return for him from teams that have 7 forwards to protect already. So the player that team lose is inadvertently part of the deal. - Retinalz
Sure if all the goal was about getting Strome. But that 1st round lotto pick for rebuild is not easy to get and this is one way to try for it. Plus you get a 3rd rounder that JB could find a Tree or Lockwood to add to depth. It's all about timing with rebuild. Wait too long and don't do enough you have to start over again and prolong agony. Need bold moves to put pieces in play. |

Beyond thrilled at the possibility of MAYBE seeing the world juniors play at my hometown arena. I imagine the cost of these tickets are going to be crazy though. I remember the CANADA-RUSSIA series that was held here a while back were going for insane prices. |

Sure if he's not lost to Vegas. Only speed is holding him back from more. He's figuring things out slowly and hasn't been a liability so that's a good sign.
I was more about Rodin for right now as for goal scoring and top 6. Rodin has the skills and development to step in. I think once he plays he will show he can do well in the NHL he's got the hockey IQ too. Something I think PL is missing and why outshown by Stecher. |

You are right on having solid 8 D. So if we keep Edler and Tanev then we will have to sit Sbisa and PL to play Stecher and Tree. That sounds good but it's a luxury for a playoff contender. Our forward group is not leaving that impression. Yes missing 2 guys in Hansen and Rodin maybe even add JV & DD. It still might not be enough. But the sure thing is that the rebuild needs a trade to sell high.
We probably can't trade Edler for value cause of his contract. Why as much as we love Tanev selling him high helps the rebuild. Not give him away. Maxmize for young high end forward and top pick. Package with other prime time vet if necessary. If the deal is there do it. Rebuild needs it as post Sedin era coming.
It opens up spot for OJ, Brisbois to fight for next season. Plus maybe Pedan this season to show what he can do versus PL. At least while Edler is out. I believe Edler if he can be convinced to be moved is more probable next season or off season. |

If you switched genres, Nickelback would be Avril Levine or some pop country band. They really don't fit with those other bands at all, so I'll have to take your word for it on the live performance. Those bands were very talented and legendary... not for me but credit due where it due and a big wtf for NB.
