I'm not saying we should not make changes (I could get behind moving either tanev or edler), just think we clearly need 8 good D to compete and don't think we should get too ahead of ourselves after 1 good game. - dbot
I agree, think many are getting a bit excited. 2 weeks ago everyone was poopting all over Hutton now him and Stecher have a good couple games together along with Tree and people think our D corps is fully developped |

It's cute and all that it's been trendy for so long to hate on them but they have some good music. |

The teams D was on the decline since 2012.It was a stale Dcore as well as a stale team. Everything needed to be changes and now we are down to the last few pieces to be changed out |

Not arguing that Edler needs to go soon, but without our top pairing our D is probably the weakest in the league. |

Still pretty talentless. Poorly written songs to sell rather than an artistic side... easy catchy beats...no one in the band stands out as one of the generations better musicians... it's pretty one dimensional. They'll be remembered for selling records and not greatness that's for sure. |

Did I say that?
I like exciting hockey. I find Edler dumb and boring, and Tanev is boring and more boring. I would rather lose watching Stechers style than playing safe like Tanev. I would rather see a few mistakes along with big hits and fights than Edlers shoot in the pads ,break sticks ,chicken style .
I will accept the mistakes |

This team is not going to win. Not one series in the playoffs out there for the Canucks to win, let alone 4. Getting assets for players that will not be here when this team gets back to competititve (specifically Edler/Hansen/Miller here) is just good management. I'm on the fence with Tanev. Letting the young guys get icetime/compete with eachother for spots is good for development. I really think Hutton needs to be moved back down the lineup for this reason, there are young guys that have earned his icetime more than he has so were sending the wrong message. |

trade Sedins Edler Hansen Tanev Eriksson Burrows and Miller then you can have a worry free expansion draft - VANTEL
If you can waive a magic wand and say done it may work. Trader Jim at the Wheel good luck. Trading one guy Hammer last season was excruciating enough.
Just an aside though Miller and Burrows don't factor in. Only Hansen and Tanev can be choices. The rest are exempt protected by contract. Maybe one of them Elder can be convinced to be traded if there is a value deal there. That only wins you protecting Sbisa on D. Forward group is more open. |

So you have to be one of the best to be relevant? And how is greatness quantified? Everyone has different musical tastes |

I doubt many that visit this thread were part of the old late 70's and early 80's punk scene, but Micky Fitz from The Business just lost his battle with cancer.

We're saying the same thing here.
I'm down with offloading Hansen/Miller/Burrows and one of Edler/Tanev.
I do not think it's wise to decide that we can afford to ship out both Edler and Tanev after one game.
It's not good for their development, it's not good for team dynamics, it's not good for anyone...unless you're pro tank. |

Like I said ,I don't mind the mistakes by the young guys. I find their style much more entertaining than Tanev and Edler.
I don't think Benning would do this ,but if I had a choice of Stecher and Sbisa and all of their mistakes along with the two younf forwards acquired in a trade over the staaability of Edler and Tanev, I do the trade. |

Edler is 31, tanev is 26. The only reason to hang onto a player is if they are useful in three years. There's a very good chance Edler will not be very useful by then. I'm pro-tank, I just think Tanev is very good and worth keeping around. Defense is about keeping pucks out of the zone/net, if that's boring than i'll take 6 boring d-men just like Tanev/Edler (sorry Vantel, were just going to disagree here) so long as they are between 20-27 years old. |

If you asked many here Edler would not be useful after 3 hours ,nevermind three years |

Tanking would be playing AHL plugs like Biega and Bartowski. Not young D earning a spot and experience on the rise. It's more about rebuilding and selling vet assets high for propects/draft picks to add into future. No giveaways just find a good deal. |
