Nickelback rules. Top 5 concert I've ever been to.
Bruce Springsteen
U2
Tom Petty
Nickelback
Eagles - Scooby_Doo
I can't believe you left The Spice Girls off your list. |

Edler is 31, tanev is 26. The only reason to hang onto a player is if they are useful in three years. There's a very good chance Edler will not be very useful by then. I'm pro-tank, I just think Tanev is very good and worth keeping around. Defense is about keeping pucks out of the zone/net, if that's boring than i'll take 6 boring d-men just like Tanev/Edler (sorry Vantel, were just going to disagree here) so long as they are between 20-27 years old. - neem55
They're both good players (boring has it's place in building a hockey team).
Trading one is not just about if they'll be valuable in 3 years, they provide value for the team today as well.
Also, you would have to consider the return.
I could see a scenario where based on return (and contracts/NMCs), Tanev is moved and Edler stays. |

If you asked many here Edler would not be useful after 3 hours ,nevermind three years - VANTEL
The team's goals against without him in the lineup is staggering (The game against Minny was no exception). He is the only player, other than Bo of course but trading him would be ridiculous, that could fetch us a 1st rounder or significant prospect. Maybe Tanev. |

Tanking would be playing AHL plugs like Biega and Bartowski. Not young D earning a spot and experience on the rise. It's more about rebuilding and selling vet assets high for propects/draft picks to add into future. No giveaways just find a good deal. - Nuck4U
I have to agree. I hope Canucks win every game. I am not hoping them to lose at all, so I am definitely not pro tank |

If we trade Edler and Tanev, then i guarantee Biega would be playing in no time. |

It's true, that just the depth chart. Unless we get another d-porspectv in one of the swaps |

So you have to be one of the best to be relevant? And how is greatness quantified? Everyone has different musical tastes - NorthNuck
Are you drunk? I just said they were relevant(known for popularity) but talentless.
... By greatness, I'm referring to talent. You step into the convo without reading my quotes to scooby I guess. Do you think Nickelback is as talented as U2? Tom Petty? The Eagles? The Bruce Springsteen Band? Come one... that's what I'm talking about.
Obviously, the answers to those questions are already in my comments.
I understand different tastes. There are not many types of music where I don't have a handful of bands I like. It's not all fast, it's not all slow, it's not all hard or soft, some of it's acoustical and some of it's electronic... it's all over the place. |

We're saying the same thing here.
I'm down with offloading Hansen/Miller/Burrows and one of Edler/Tanev.
I do not think it's wise to decide that we can afford to ship out both Edler and Tanev after one game.
It's not good for their development, it's not good for team dynamics, it's not good for anyone...unless you're pro tank. - dbot
You have a good point. Plus reality is Elder hardest to trade and Tanev very much loved so probably neither goes. If one does it's probably Tanev because of contract and value. |

In case you haven't noticed, injuries always happen.
Biega would be playing in no time.
and so would Pedan. Maybe we'd get to see Subban when Stetcher/Larsen are out |

So
I have painfully endured 6 years of Edler Tanev Garrisson Bieksa and Hamhuis man . I can take a few games of Biega and Pedan |

If the Canucks were smart they'd retain/take as much salary needed to get a deal with Edler done (we can afford it for a few years while we rebuild, for the right package in return). As for the NTC, its all if he's willing to go somewhere that makes sense. |

Great.
But this is out of context.
I was talking with another poster about being pro-tank would be to play ahl plugs like Biega.
My point is, if we trade our top 2 D (Edler/Tanev), we are tanking the season.

Yes. Worth exploring. Just harder to do and not much faith in JB pulling off. |

Things would get pretty fuggin ugly in a hurry with one or two injuries and a couple guys not handling the additional minutes on top of that could turn it into a disaster.
