Adapt and change. A Canuck lesson for coaching and management. Things are not the same. Player development seems inconsistent. For every surprise there are disappointments. So goes the season. Club needs to step up. Fans are in pain. They want action and results. Where are we now |

Which way are they trending? Be honest now, don't let your hate of Leaves enter into it. Which way are we trending, you can do it! - neem55

1 - Trading players for less than full value just because they're over 22 is stupid.
2 - COULDN'T trade Vrbata and decided value offered was not worth trading Hamhuis. Both situations resulting from handicap of NTC's rather than incompetence of management.
3 - Burrows had zero trade value last year. The option was to buy him out and take a cap penalty for the next two years, or let him play it out. The latter looks like a better decision at this point.
4 - Hansen is a potential difference-maker as a third liner for a cup contender. That's when you would maximize his value. Trading him at the draft would have been a dumb move. Don't be surprised if he's moved this year at the deadline.
5 - They still needed a veteran goaltender this year and Miller has a NTC. He is also likely to be moved this year and will fetch more that way than he would as an off-season dump for no reason.
Toronto had a lousy team and signed a bunch of marginal players nobody else wanted to one year deals so they could hopefully flip some of them for draft picks. Not exactly rocket science and they're probably the only team in the league where you can get away with that strategy.
When you go through each scenario player by player and compare different teams each based on their own individual timelines, it's difficult to come to the conclusion that Canucks management isn't trying hard enough to accelerate a rebuild. It could be argued they're further ahead. So just because the Toronto media can't seem to stop pointing their collective finger and laughing at the Canucks doesn't mean you should listen to or agree with them. - YeOldTimer
I like this post, you've answered several misnomers but I don't think this will sit well the crowd that thinks TO is the best model to follow.

Yes I've read that, they really played well last night apparently, everything that went wrong is the fault of the forwards, if not for the youth on defence the game would have been 15-1. |

That and Willie not coaching urgency. The players must be told how to feel. |

Oh brother.........
Way to go TSN!
6 Stories are currently on tsn.ca's front page about "Bad Blood" between the Canucks and Leafs.
What kills me is that the Leafs lost a decade worth of games.... a friggin decade, won a couple in a row and suddenly they are high and mighty.

I hardly ever get to see the Canucks play, and for posters to say the D played well made me want to strangle them. - Makita
LAst night's game was not good or close at all. But to blame it on the D misses the problem. Yeah they had issues too. PL was the worst among them. But there were many telling signs that growth has been made among the young guys. |

Its painful to read the Laine reviews, and just how dynamic this kid is in PEG... I wonder what an extra 15 goals does for our record. Arena would be a lot fuller, and 3-4 more wins makes the relentless calls for a rebuild A LOT quieter.

Truth be told it was the worst animosity of a game with dirty hits and fights the Canucks have had all season. Plus one of their worse losses. So there is something to he story for at least the Canucks. Why the Leafs have any beef is beyond and belief of audacity. Pretty low of them and even Cherry was against what they did at the time. |

Yes I agree, last night was not close at all, I'm not blaming it on the defensive players but they sucked more than any other segment. We have different opinions on what the problem is, you praise the D and blame the coach, I blame the talent of the players and understand the challenges of the coaching. |
