I hope JV gets the message. - hillbillydeluxe
I hope JV gets the message next year. Like many big boys, he really did not have to work hard in Jr. as his size just powered his way through but he never learned discipline or humility or patience.
A year struggling in the A is what he needs.

Can we get some clarification of expectations?
Which club will be next to make the playoffs and which will win a series? in how many years? - hillbillydeluxe
I expect Toronto to make the playoffs in a few years (next year is pushing it maybe, depend on defense improving.
I don't expect Vancouver to be relevant at this point for an unknown amount of time. A lot depends on the TDL this year, where we end up drafting ect.
We seem to be limiting this conversation to Toronto, no longer wanting to talk about Edmonton, which you all said would be poop this year and I predicted would make the playoffs. |

It's a process. You try to improve with the options available to you. Off-season UFA and out of cap trades. Start of season development and play. Lost season by draft position and sell high trades. At Draft quality picks and long term trades. It's a fluid process. You can't know where you are until you get there. - Nuck4U
See I reject this logic completely. It seems pretty clear where we are: poopty |

All season long WD has been giving high praises to Stetcher. He wants others to take notice. This is what drove me crazy about all the whining about JV. This is how you motivate other young players and to change your lines and dish out minutes to focus on solving one kid's inabilty just flies in the face of the standard you want to set. It ruins a good example of *why* you get rewarded. - boonerbuck

I bet he would have a strong second half and be much more ready for next season.
In the perfect world, he gets called up at the TDL after playing well to replace a couple of traded wingers(Burrows, Hansen) |

I just don't want to see him called up and stuck on the 4th line or pressbox. play him meaningful minutes here or Utica. |

as long as it is a rest stop along the way and not the destination, we will be okay.
my warm blanket is the notion that JB knows how to draft and as long as he holds onto the majority of those picks, we will be okay.

I totally agree, which is why I want many picks, as high as possible in the order for the next draft. |

I'll give any gm some leeway when it comes to young players, that are waiver exempt, starting the season in the AHL.
The notion of making the club out of training camp sounds great but doesn't always work out with some good players having slow starts for whatever reason.
