So guys like Ghost are elite too? Kilingberg?

Are we just basing this on points?

- sbroads24

If Gostisbehere can repeat, absolutely, he should've been a Hart candidate for the way the team turned around when he was called up. Klingberg yeah, he's elite too. But I guess it comes down to your definition of "elite". I would say maybe, generally, speaking top 20 forwards, top 20 or maybe a few less D, top 12ish Goalies. It's more of a feel thing.

And no, not just points, but usage too.

Wouldn't that by extension make Lindholm/Doughty passengers? There aren't too many cases where a bottom feeder possession team is boasting an elite possession player. And I emphasize elite possession player, not elite player in general.
- Sabresfan-365

Sure, but they also suppress shots and scoring chances better. They also have better D men on their team which explains why there relative numbers are worse.

I don't know. Elite is a bold word. Kind of like "generational"

I would say top 5 at those positions. Nothing wrong with being really good.

They tend to roll better 5 man units as a whole. No d-man is every really stuck out there with a line that would be considered a drag on possession. Shot suppression tends to be a team effort cuz theres really no way 1 d-man is stopping 5 competent hockey players from getting a shot (high or low quality) to the net. There are obviously outliers which would point towards the best of the best.

I'm honestly asking, what category besides time on ice is Risto considered elite? He doesn't drive scoring or possession. That I know. I can't find any other legit #1's that are mediocre to bad in both.

By their ages...he's better than 12-14 of them.

Edit: To me Muzzin and Stralman don't even belong on this list though.

Canadiens and Senators are what 2nd and 3rd place teams in the East? Could he possibly have numbers that would rival those?

Muzzin had almost identical basic stats to Risto. 8 goals and 40 points. And didn't get the same PP time

I think he's very good offensively, and again, in general pretty good.

But he hasn't come close to taking that "big step" we were all talking about before the year started. He's exactly the same as last year. Good on O, average on D and in transition
