Actually I think it would have counted if it went off a Bruins player other than the goalie - Stripes77
A goal cannot
be scored by an attacking player who uses a distinct kicking motion to
propel the puck into the net with his skate/foot. A goal cannot be
scored by an attacking player who kicks a puck that deflects into the
net off any player, goalkeeper or official.
A kicked puck that deflects off the body of any player of either team
(including the goalkeeper) shall be ruled no goal.
A kicked puck that deflects off the stick of any player (excluding the
goalkeeper’s stick) shall be ruled a good goal. |

Has to hit a stick other than the goalie's. Skates or other parts don't count. - Wetbandit1

And isnt that technically a hand pass?
Not looking like a good day so far. Rangers and Hurricanes may be playing a 3 point game, the Flyers are winning. |

He was the first player to touch it, you can hand pass to yourself, the other Bruin forward wiffed! |

Yeah, but the Bruins gained an advantage from it. And that should wash it out.
Edit: A player shall be permitted to stop or “bat” a puck in the
air with his open hand, or push it along the ice with his hand, and the
play shall not be stopped unless, in the opinion of the on-ice officials,
he has directed the puck to a teammate, or has allowed his team to
gain an advantage, and subsequently possession and control of the
puck is obtained by a player of the offending team, either directly or
deflected off any player or official.
I would say putting the puck 6" in front of the goal line is one hell of an advantage. |

As long as the player that originally hand passed it is the first player on that team to touch it, its a legal play no matter what zone.
That's been the rule for as long as I can remember. |
