Not trying to demean our young guys, I like them, however, those other teams have more and better talent in terms of youth. That doesn't mean we won't get there in the next couple of years, we will, but as it stands they're further along that the Canucks are IMO.

When Linden gets over his man-crush on the Sedins we'll see a real injection of youth and then we'll have finally turned the corner.

- LeftCoaster

You're not wrong. However the Sedins help transitioning the team to stay competitive. Without them at this point in time this team would be lost.

I understand . If you look at a piece of paper you would take Monahan over Bo , but who is having the better year? I would build a team around Bo because I do think he is becoming a Bergeron type player. He does everything. He is taking over the leadership.

Stecher and Tryamkin are still babies when it comes to experience but boy do I like what I see.

- VANTEL

Would you rather Matthews or Bo?

Somebody predicted he would do well this season.

He is making me a believer and only 26. At this point I would tell Edler we are moving you at TDL

I would too. Right now I can say he is the best player on the team.

I really Horvat, obviously, he's a great young 21 year old player, and I think he's going to be a helluva good player for a lot of years to come. I'm not sure he'll ever be as good offensively as MacKinnon, Monahan, Eichel, Matthews etc. but that certainly doesn't mean he isn't any good!

The defence looks good, or at the very least decent, a lot of kids under the age of 25 back there right now. They really need an offensive guy though, a number one dman who can rack up the points.

You need to see more games. I think Mathews went 14 games without a goal? Thats a long stretch in 24 games.

Way to early for predictions. Leafs also are noted for sliding down after December . Need to get over that hump also.

Of course, because there's not enough youth in our system to replace them. If the team had drafted better under Gillis they be playing down the lineup instead of still being their best offensive players...Horvat being the exception.

That stretch was unfortunate but he was still playing pretty awesome, wasn't getting the bounces and was snake bitten. I think I've missed one game this year.. he's been very good and just creates plays non stop in every zone and area.. he's pretty fun to watch.. especially considering he's getting pulled down by boat anchor Hyman for whatever reason.. I'd love to see him and Marner together..

Sedins control the bulk of the puck possession so I don't think you will see a Dman with high numbers until they are gone

He's going to be a fantastic player, they went through all the great young players who went through goal-less slumps early in their careers, the list included Tavares, Stamkos, Crosby, even McDavid this year went nine games without a goal.

Disagree, you can have a high scoring dman even with the Sedins maintaining possession down low. When they were in their prime Edler and Ehrhoff both had great years with them (49&50 points), hell Bieksa even had a 40+ point season.

A lot of great dmen have great years offensively with great forwards.

When they were in their prime is a lot different than a 2016 Sedin.

Look at Leafs PP last night pass pass shoot score 14 seconds.

Canucks PP Sedin over to Sedin over to Sedin over to Sedin over to Sedin over to Sedin over to Sedin over to Sedin over to Sedin over to Sedin over to Sedin over to Sedin over to Sedin over to Sedin over to Sedin over to Sedin over to Sedin over to Sedin over to Sedin over to Sedin over to Sedin over to Sedin .

But if it wasn't for them they'd probably be last in the league instead of 25th.

I know you don't like it but they don't have any talented players to play with Horvat to make a second unit......yet.

They have ran out the clock twice this year down by one goal with and empty net. Passing instead of shooting.

Don't get me wrong ,I agree that they are keeping this team respectable but WD needs to start handing out more responsibility to young players.

Agree.....but that doesn't take away the fact they don't have any really talented kids to be creative on the PP like the Sedins are. BUT....those days are coming my friend, hopefully!!!

Is there really a difference between 25 th and 30 th If you are going to finish that low you may as well go all in for top pick.

I still think they finish higher.

I said it before my top PP unit would be

Eriksson Bo Sutter
Hutton Stecher

OK, just before I go... I do have an actual question.....

I have a pretty serious home theatre system in my family room and noticed something very odd tonight. My rear speakers only project the crowd noise... ok.... you need to understand that.... it may bleed through the other speakers but the two rear ones are primarily crowd noise.

I noticed that everytime the "Go Leafs Go" chant started, the volume on those speakers increased. Normally these speakers are the lowest in volume as it is only atmosphere.

I had a few friends over tonight to watch the game and it was also PVR'd so we were able to go back and the volume increase was quite obvious.

I only mention this because so many Leaf Trolls like to think that their fan base is very strong in other cities but I think I have come across the CBC taking artistic license with their sound mixing.

Anyone else PVR the game and have a 5.1 or 7.1 speaker system? Check it out. It's eerie.

- Beatle_john

I think they also used CGI to populate the stands with the Leaf fans, because in person they weren't really any Leaf fans there at all, a guy was telling me.

25th in terms of PP, not where they stand in the league right now, we were talking PP right...you're changing the subject again

PP needs creative players with good hands, currently they have four players (forwards) like that, and Sutter isn't one of them, he can be a net presence though.
