I am more than happy to discuss how the NHL needs to tighten their rules - simply adopting OHL standards would be an easy start.
But until that happens, it is hard to criticize a guy for legally hitting a player while said player is in a scoring position. That's his job.
And I would be remiss if I also did not mention that part of the problem is that Sedin's helmet was too loose - a league-wide problem (a drum I have been beating since Coliacovo was a Leaf).
What the heck is the point in making safety equipment mandatory if the players don't wear it properly?
And yes, Komarov deserves to be penalized/fined/suspended until he fixes his visor. - Atomic Wedgie
I personally don't care what the NHL board of Jackasses conclude. It means nothing. If Desjardins had any brains he tells everyone on the team on every shif that Mathews Marner and Reilly are on the ice go and nail them. Keep the sticks down and put them on their ass 30 times each. Don't worry if you get a penalty , go and send a message . |

Funny you should mention education: leaf is singular, leaves is plural. Now go back to the leaves thread like a good boy - neem55
Remember San Diego Charger bust Ryan Leaf?
If you invited him, his wife and kids to dinner, would you say "the Leaves are coming for dinner" or "the Leafs are coming for dinner?"
Jesus, I'm already burdened with trying to teach James Tanner grammar.

Actually it would be the Leaf's coming to dinner. Don't quit your day job.
I see your point though. I'll call them Leaf's fans from here on out |

Blindside hits are not against the rules. That is a fact.
Hit from behind. Hit to the head. Those are against the rules. Kadri didn't even leave his feet on the Sedin hit so it wasn't even the charging penalty that he got called for. |

Actually it wouldn't. Apostrophe s either signifies either possessive as in "Ryan Leaf's family" or to replace "is" as in "it's". It is not used to pluralize things. So you would be having the Leafs over for dinner. |

100 per cent wrong.
Leaf's indicates possession.
So Leaf's family would be correct, if referring to Ryan Leaf's family (singular subject).
Otherwise, you are making the mistake affectionately known as "the grocer's apostrophe" - where one mistakenly uses an apostrophe with an s to indicate plural.
Tl:dr - Canuck's would be wrong. |

So the penalty was not warranted? It was a hit from behins and a charge and he got a major. Legal but the refs got it wrong?
This is what I mean about Leafs fans rewriting their own history.

Not if your using it with a persons name. Those are johns pencils, no they are john's pencils. The lewis' are coming for dinner. The Leaf's fans should go back to their own thread. |

It was not a hit from behind. And it was not charging because he never left his feet. The refs had to call something because of the severity of the hit and because it looked like he left his feet in real time. His feet only left the ice after the hit because Sedin wasn't braced to receive a hit. Cuz he had his head down and wasn't aware of the opposition on the ice.
The replay showed that very clearly. |
