Brenden Dillon 2.0.....and there's nothing wrong with that, I like Dillon. - LeftCoaster
Same here. His stats seem to paint a picture of a decent second pairing guy that hits and blocks shots; however, I'd like to see Guddy get a handle on his giveaways. They are currently at Sbisa levels.
If only he would sign a similar extension to Dillon's $3.27M per year... |

Nope not at all |

Of course, his Corsi for % is only 50.61 so it's not like he's a world-beater in that regard
EDIT: And he starts more of his shifts in the offensive zone rather than the defensive zone... for context - nucks_94
Corsi is a decent stat but much like plus minus there is always more to it that what the stat says about players |

Larsen doesn't belong in the NHL - VANTEL
Sucks for him but he had to know the situation he was walking into. Very short period to prove he had value as an offensive D and he hasn't put up the points, outplayed massively by Stecher. Low risk experiment didn't work out. |

Yup. Fortunately it didn't cost them anymore than a roster spot and some cap space. |

That could cost more if certain targets are met or something... I hope he doesn't meet those targets because he really shouldn't be back next season unless he goes all beefcake and bulks up. |

Becomes a 4th if he hits certain goals, seeing as Stecher probably has pushed him out of the starting lineup I expect it'll stay a 5th |

I hope so. (or rather hope he doesn't hit those targets if they are games played or something)
I just keep telling myself, we are a team in transition and just because we picked up this or that guy, it doesn't mean they will be here 2 years from now... |

Personally, I don't think it matters, he's expendable enough that I'm sure a team looking for depth might give us something back if they need an AHL calibre call-up at the TDL. If not, it's no great loss Stecher more than makes up for him. |

Yep, only thing I hope for is that JB picks up a couple of draft picks at the TDL or the draft itself. We are missing our 5th and 6th and who knows if CBJ will give us that extra 2nd |

I've been thinking about that and jersey sales lately, definitely more than a few picked up a McCann jersey last year, and I'm sure there are some considering Sven, Granlund, Hansen, etc who may not be around next season depending on TDL and expansion drafts |

By 20 years old, most of his draft class (at least near his draft position) have all established themselves as regular NHLers and are producing according to their talent/skill/development cycle. Jake hasn't yet, I think it's fair to say that IF and again I say IF we can get someone more skilled who's more mature (and for the record, that's not E. Kane and I also don't want him near the team) and who's able to produce in the NHL for a package that includes Jake, wouldn't that be fine?
I tend to shake my head at this idea that just because we drafted Jake and because he's from here and happens to be a power forward that the second we even THINK about trading him, shades of Neely comes up, or that we'd be 'throwing him away'. The best case scenario is that he isn't traded this year, and has a productive year playing 1st line/PP1 minutes in Utica and produces like a top 6 winger he's projected as and acts like a professional down there and all this trade talk goes away. The thing is, it hasn't happened yet, and while there's signs that it might, there's more indications that he's still having issues with immaturity and that his lack of pure hockey IQ is hampering his effectiveness.
Personally, I would be fine with trading Jake if he's part of a package that gets us either a 1C prospect (like a S. Reinhart or Strome (ARI) etc.) or a top 6 scoring winger that isn't E. Kane. You can find a dozen Virtanens in the draft. - DariusKnight
remember that all the great power forwards took extra years to develop. Bert was a good example too...isles gave up on him after 4 years and traded him here. Just seems all the power forwards need more time. Makes sense as its transitioning to being a man from a boy in an adult mens league |

Ek is saying we have interest in Spooner.
"The Canucks are a fascinating team right now, as ownership and management don't seem to be in lockstep. And in my experience the ownership wins that battle every time. The Canucks are going to try to get better and compete right now."
I'm not sure where Spooner would fit unless the plan is to keep Sutter with the Sedins and put Spooner, Granlund and Eriksson together? |

Maybe, and then maybe not. I'm not comparing anything that happened last year or even comparing with other teams, am I supposed say, hey this D is great because they're better than last year....or I am supposed to evaluate the game and the players that are playing at that moment.
That is were "MY" criticism lies, the Anaheim game was one of the worst defensive performances I've watched this year (don't give a fcuk about last year), the Toronto game was better. - Makita
I considered that both teams were looking ahead to Saturday. They both crapped the bed the game before. The fans seemed to be looking ahead as well. Gameday, we talked more about the upcoming Leafs game, Rock and Roll and recounts more than the ducks game that was in a few hours...

Did they? I bet this is way over played by us fans and media.
If we list the last 20 great power forwards, I'm willing to put a few bucks down that only a few of them needed extra years. It's always Bert and Neely that are mentioned. Quite honestly, I've never heard any other examples.

Stecher saved the game on Saturday, he cleared the puck on the goal line. Gudbrandson stood up for a team mate, something Edler has not done his entire career nor Tanev. - VANTEL
ya he looked like a veteran on that play. Really smart instincts to go to that spot.
Stetcher has been exciting to watch |

Agreed, I remember looking it up and Bertuzzi and Neely both put up good rookie season numbers, 18 and 16 goals. A couple decent seasons followed before consistency struck.
If you use this as a list, it didnt take most of these guys long. But then again, we arent really expecting JV to be an all-time calibre, even all-star is a long shot: http://www.si.com/nhl/201...top-10-nhl-power-forwards
EDIT: I was checking Shanahan, guy only never scored 20 goals in his first and last seasons in the NHL |

Haha, I know. Twenty will be a challenge. But even with just high-end power forwards in general... these guys didn't take extra years....
Ovechkin
Lucic
Lindros
Perry
Sundin
I mean, It's a lot harder to find the ones that needed extra years than not in my opinion. I think this is just something that's been pounded into our heads by the media... but never backed up with any facts. |

Another guy that came to my mind was Jamie Benn. Big winger that can score. The guy went from the Kelowna Rockets in 08-09 to playing 82 games with Dallas in 09-10 and putting up 22 goals and 19 assists. |
