So considering there's been zero hockey talk here today , i'll be the first the try out a topic.
What's up with Luc-Dubois? 18 points in 20 games in the Q, drafted 3rd overall? he missed a few games but WTF? And no mention of Maxime Fortier or Francois Beauchemin from any draft prospect sites that I've read... Those two kids are ripping up the Q this year along with Nico.
Brock seems to have hit a wall the last couple of weeks, but Gaudette is piling up the points. Lockwood and MacKenzie are both still playing well and I'm excited to see if Brisebois can crack the WJ roster. - Brooks_Light
It's the Q. aren't they both older?
Edit: which begs the question! Are those 2 helping out Nico Hischier or is he helping them?
Edit 2: Brock is playing through an injury, hand i believe. |

I imagine if Lockwood continues playing like this, he makes the American WJC next season. It'll be nice if we have a few prospects in the tournament when Van/Vic host the tourney in a couple years |

LOL Manitoba got about 20 cm yesterday, not going anywhere. Another 10 cm called for later today. Wife already got the car stuck. - manvanfan
And you're in Brandon too! I swear, every time we've been there there's always been an accident on the bridges of either the 10 or 1A over the river... were there during the floos a few years ago too, bloody water was about 2-3 feet higher than the road and only held in by the sandbags |

Fortier was ranked 3rd-5th round for this years draft but was passed over looks like.

Considering Van is hopefully going to have a few extra picks in the coming seasons. Only thing i'd really like JB and co. to do this year is to not draft any 19 or 20 year olds. Should be looking for players that will need longer to develop and potential has been untapped yet. |

You have to think that he gets taken as an overager this coming year... - lumlums
He'll only be 19, is that considered overage? |

I think Callan Foote is underrated. Be a great first pairing with OJ. |

I believe that anyone who has already passed through the draft would be considered an overager. |

Yeah, can't go wrong really with a solid capable D. He may really never light the scoreboard on fire but he is going to be kind of Bouewmeester like. Just steady eddie. |

And that's exactly what we need to go with Rielly - he's many things, and insanely talented at shot generation, but he has trouble in his own end at times. With space and the puck on his stick he can make many things happen, but under pressure he struggles a little - which is probably why his partnership with Tanev worked so well at the worlds; they balanced each other and brought a complete skillset between them. |

I get a bit frustrated when I hear media or whoever say the Canucks think the rebuild is done. Whereas I think much of the work remaining is drafting and development, hoping JB doesn't trade away any picks, and hopefully a few trades here and there of players for picks at tdl or on the last year of contracts- ie. asset management.

Yeah, I think that what Van is trying to find with Hutton and Gudbranson which isn't working. #freehutton |

The media are a bunch of moron's. I think any person with any sort of common sense can see that they are just making up a bunch of bullpoop.
The best way I can see Van getting back to winning ways is to do the opposite of what Van did this summer.
Drafted a top end potential D man. This year draft top end forward.
Trade a young assest for a middle D man. This year trade an older D (tanev or edler) for a younger forward.
Sign a top end college free agent D. This year sign a top end college free agent forward.
Adding in trading Hansen, Burrows, or someone else who doesn't fit into a 3 year plan.
So you get something like
Sedin Sedin Eriksson
Baertschi Horvat Böeser
(college FA) Sutter Virtanen/Rodin
4th line is whoever wins the jobs. I prefer players with at least a little experience.
Hutton Stecher
OJ Gudbranson
Sbisa Tryamkin.
Markstrom
Demko
That doesn't include if Edler or Tanev is traded for a NHL player. Also doesn't include this years first round pick. OR any Free agents.
Shut up about Sbisa (I know he is overpaid) but honestly he hasn't been that bad. Plays well with Tryamkin.
Oh poop i'm sorry. |

The impression I got from Gudbranson's deployment in Florida was he was often paired with Campbell or Mitchell- experienced dmen. Now Guddy is paired with Hutton, he is now looked upon to be the steady vet... both are learning their roles and building chemistry (slowly).
I was wondering what Gudbranson would look like with Stecher? |

Gudbranson really isn't a vet yet, Canucks D is very young. If they didn't both play the right side I think that they could compliment. People have been saying that Edler plays more physical when he plays with Stecher. Feel as if it's maybe the same as Sbisa playing with Tryamkin, not relied on to be all D and physical but showing a bit more promise on the offensive side. |
