The impression I got from Gudbranson's deployment in Florida was he was often paired with Campbell or Mitchell- experienced dmen. Now Guddy is paired with Hutton, he is now looked upon to be the steady vet... both are learning their roles and building chemistry (slowly).

I was wondering what Gudbranson would look like with Stecher?

I posted something similar not too long ago where I didnt think he was comfortable yet in Van. I think in FLA he was more aggressive and that likely had something to do with the comfort of having a steady presence beside him; with Hutton its his responsibility to be that and I think he is adjusting to the role of cover-guy and still play his usual physical style

Ya no extension talk for WD yet. That seems a bit odd.

You guys had a Queen discussion and I (frank)ing missed it.

May be the best rock band ever. Many rock aficionados consider Queen's performance at Live Aid to be the best live rock performance ever. It’s commonly referred to as the ‘20 minutes that changed music’.

It appears they are gonna ride Willie out which is good for our draft situation...but this road trip past the 1/4 mark could be a killer. Need to go over .500 to even keep pace with the crappy Flames

I don't think there will be a band that will EVER be as good as Queen.

It may be just me but I feel as if the league is a bit tighter this year then previous years. (still early though)

It's the Q. aren't they both older?
Edit: which begs the question! Are those 2 helping out Nico Hischier or is he helping them?
Edit 2: Brock is playing through an injury, hand i believe.

- manvanfan

Hischier is being hailed as the best player ever to come out of Switzerland(that includes Roman Josi). He is also on loan to Halifax, so he is AHL eligible right away.

One could certainly make an argument for it. I think Led Zep needs to be considered (one of) or maybe the best pure 'rock' band. Queen had more consistency over a much longer period of time tho...

It is tighter. The bottom 10 teams aren't total pushovers on any given night like some seasons...and these guys are still pros and hate to lose. There really are no guaranteed wins.

You're crushing hard on him. It's not as if Swiss is a hockey hot bed. One scout said he has the speed of Ehlers and is better then Kevin Fiala. So Ehlers was drafted 9th and it doesn't say he is better then Ehlers but Fiala was drafted 11th and he is better then Fiala. So where should he be drafted? Lol.

The media are a bunch of moron's. I think any person with any sort of common sense can see that they are just making up a bunch of bullpoop.

The best way I can see Van getting back to winning ways is to do the opposite of what Van did this summer.

Drafted a top end potential D man. This year draft top end forward.
Trade a young assest for a middle D man. This year trade an older D (tanev or edler) for a younger forward.
Sign a top end college free agent D. This year sign a top end college free agent forward.

Adding in trading Hansen, Burrows, or someone else who doesn't fit into a 3 year plan.

So you get something like
Sedin Sedin Eriksson
Baertschi Horvat Böeser
(college FA) Sutter Virtanen/Rodin
4th line is whoever wins the jobs. I prefer players with at least a little experience.

Hutton Stecher
OJ Gudbranson
Sbisa Tryamkin.

Markstrom
Demko

That doesn't include if Edler or Tanev is traded for a NHL player. Also doesn't include this years first round pick. OR any Free agents.
Shut up about Sbisa (I know he is overpaid) but honestly he hasn't been that bad. Plays well with Tryamkin.

Oh poop i'm sorry.

- manvanfan

Agreed with you on Sbisa, I have always liked him even when he struggles, still fairly solid on PK. Personally though I don't think Juolevi will be ready next season and I won't be surprised if Miller is resigned for a season, if not him another veteran goalie at about 3 million per.

I think there is more parity now, but the playoff races are definitely artificially enhanced by the 2 point games. It is hard to get separation from the group when OT gives you one less point than a win

Live Aid was great.

I remember seeing an anniversary concert, on tv, for Atlantic Records and they had LedZep back together, and a bunch of other bands having their sets, it was a pretty good show.

I'm not crushing hard, just quoting an article. I still prefer Nolan to him as Nolan looks NHL ready and the most likely to succeed. But the fact that Hischier is AHL eligible makes him the center i would take if Patrick is not available to us. I see him being equal to all the rest, but the benefit that if he is better than Junior but not good enough for the NHL, JB won't pull a JM/JV and keep them up. I also see him having the most offensive upside in this draft.

After losing their top 4 scoring players from last season. OJ is on pace for more points then last season and London is around tops in the league. That BS, worrying about him playing second pairing. Plays the most ES TOI on the team and is on the first PP.
Demko is 5-1 in his last 6 games. I doubt that he see's another season in the AHL. He will back up Markstrom and play probably 20 games.

10th is the answer BTW
I quote articles about saying it's a weak draft and you tell me that's BS. I don't think it matters which Center Van drafts in 2017 because I don't see them making the team unless they are that good. A year more development the same as OJ and then Henrik is gone.
