Larsen isn't even worth the 5th we paid for him at this point. - Codes1087
I've been vocal criticizing some of the moves made the past few years but a 5th for Larsen was and still is a good deal for us.
He hasn't been very good but I don't think he has been as bad as either Bartkowski or Weber were last year. I don't think many truly expected Stetcher to come in and have this impressive of an impact this quickly.
Larson is the perfect pressbox guy when we are healthy and an adequate fill in when injuries hit IMO.

I'm hoping this is not the logic about to be applied.
I'm only on board with acquiring Spooner if they are willing to make a package out of our spare parts or our fringe prospects.
Pedan, Larsen, Subban, Gaunce, Rodin, etc... add pending UFA's to the list... but I'd rather acquire picks with them.
Keep our picks between 1 and 5. - boonerbuck
Exactly. Hinging PO hopes on 'maybe's' like Spooner just don't make a whole lot of sense. May as well have kept Gillis here if we are going to go after every incarnation of Derek Roy or Sammy Pahlsson or Booth because they had one good season like Spooner.
If we can get Spooner for our scraps absolutely. But I highly doubt BOS will bite on Sbisa/Gaunce + for Spooner... |

In that time, they're a respectable 7-4-1 but have made only slight gains in the standings—they start the week 26th overall.
Hey that's really awesome, you know 26 is BETTER than 28.. |

He was supposed to come in provide offensive upside, play on the powerplay. He failed at those two things. Doesn't hit or force takeaways but doesn't give the puck up too much either. Adequate I guess is somewhat accurate. probably worth more to us as a depth guy than on the open market at this point. |

Calgary is playing better too but at this point I think we will see SJ LA ANA and EDM in the PO's and we will be stuck in the bottom 3 with Calgary and the Av's in our Div.
Calgary might make a stab at the WC but I doubt it. |

We were there once this year, and dammit with this stellar youth movement we have going, well I truly believe 25th is in reach, go ahead, call me an optimist make fun of me but I believe. |

wo wo wo Spooner Doesn't get you Sbiza, straight up!!! Gaunce sure but Spooners brutal, he's been a fringe NHLer for the last 3 years, then he had one decent year, now he's sucking again. What a terrible idea to go after a player like him, we got enough let downs on this team as is. |

That would be an awful deal for us if they did. Chaput has been pretty good for us up the middle, what does Spooner bring? Better points per game (his shot percent is low right now, suggests he's slumping). Much worse at faceoffs. Chaput is much better, this is his weakness. That and when deployed more last year he was a statistical liability in terms of possession/shots, but did get 49 points.
Seems like Boston has given that icetime to more responsible players this year, that he is really not a 200 foot player. That's my two-cents. |

Like I said he hasn't been great but he has come in and provided some offensive upside and played on the powerplay albeit with limited success, although I don't know if it is fair to blame it solely on him.
Stecher 15 GP 42 min on the PP 4 G, 35 shots on pp as a team. 1 A 11 shots on PP individually.
Larsen 16 GP 47 min on the PP. 2 G, 39 shots on pp as a team. 1 A 10 shots on PP individually.
I agree though he likely is worth more to this team if it intends to make the playoffs as a depth guy than trying to recoup that 5th. |

Thanks.... that moral victory should have us picking around 7 or 8 at the draft. |
|
|
|
Eric Gelinas got a 3rd at the deadline last year and is now in the AHL on the worst team in the league.
Justin Schultz got a 3rd.
Mike Weber for a 3rd.
This season. Nick Holden for a 4th.
Yandle's right's for a 6th.
3rd for a NHL D is fair, even for a 3rd pairing. - manvanfan
I wouldn't consider him a 3rd pairing player. Take the used garbage can if a team is willing to give that to you. Ithe was worth the gamble, just didn't work out. |

At this point it really seems like we're gonna finish is that poopty 8-12 range. My hope then would be that JB could pay our first + Hansen or whatever we can afford to move into the top 5
Unless he could acquire a low first in addition to the one we already have, I'd be okay with that too. |
