What does this mean they want Gillis back?? So we can give up our future for the next versions of Derek Roy, Sammy Pahlsson and David Booth?? - LordHumungous
I think he is being considered by a club back east for a position.
Feckin 1040 is a joke, Gillis making a great decision by keeping AV and all that. We had a good run with Gillis as the GM, but it might be just as much Gillis running with the pieces that were in place already than moves that brought in players. I still remember MG's first presser when he said the Sedins weren't first line players.
I'm not a big Gillis hater, he made some good moves, but then appeared paralyzed at the end of his run. Not sure how much ownership interfered?
I can't wait for WD's contract to end or get fired so Pratt can be all consoling to him in his first interview after. |

It's about asset management and acquiring another draft pick who could, or couldn't, turn into a franchise player. Why would you not want to maximize your future potential when the opportunity knocks? - LeftCoaster
If they can hire lawyers to be GM's, why not engineers? Polish your resume buddy |

I am on board with trading a couple, Hansen being my number 1 guy, for the reason of getting an extra asset or two. But I disliked and was embarassed by the tanking efforts of a few teams the past few season, so I dont condone a roster that is intentionally stripped to one of no NHL caliber talent. Problem for Vancouver is its already halfway there and they havent traded anyone yet |

Why do you believe everything that they (Benning & Linden) say? |

Because Benning is too stupid to lie and Linden just doesn't want any hurt feelings |

You still have to have some good vets around young players. I want to say a winning culture is important, but maybe it is as much as having dedicated pros with some pedigree than the wins while rebuilding.
We knew some/many things had to go right for us to be a wild card team and here we are with our top 2 dmen out and at least one top 9 winger out in Rodin who was hoped to provide some scoring.
It might be a long season until tdl. |

Yup, he's so stupid that he is the General Manager of a $700 million enterprise. A total moron. |

I will give Gillis credit where it's due. We don't see no cup final without adding Hamhuis Higgins Malholtra Ehrhoff Rome Samuelsson Torres Lapierre and a few others...which may have been a bit lucky too. But after that selling off assets for rentals when it was clear what the team needed...

Gillis's only downfall, besides his personality, was he was unable to replenish the system to create another push from below. In six drafts he only provided Horvat and Hutton to the organization, that's a fail. |

Linden: “Our goal is to play some meaningful games in March and be in the hunt. As of right now, it’s about seeing the young players, watching the defence continue to develop, seeing Bo [Horvat], Sven [Baertschi] and Marcus [Granlund] continue to play well.”
