After a couple of PVR replays it's clear Hall didn't have to skate through him. He chose to hit him while he was vulnerable a' la Raffe Torres. Clean hit yes, but reckless and unnecessary. Brent Seabrook says hello - Bowel-Auger
Being reckless and unnecessary but clean is an oxymoron in the truest sense. |

No question whether head was contacted, problem is that to make a hit on the play legally (which Hall did - feel on the ice, through the centre of body), contact with the head was unavoidable. Thats where the onus is on Larsen to have his head up
From the rulebook:
Rule 48 – Illegal Check to the Head
48.1 Illegal Check to the Head – A hit resulting in contact with an opponent’s head where the head was the main point of contact and such contact to the head was avoidable is not permitted.
In determining whether contact with an opponent's head was avoidable, the circumstances of the hit including the following shall be considered:
(i) Whether the player attempted to hit squarely through the opponent’s body and the head was not "picked" as a result of poor timing, poor angle of approach, or unnecessary extension of the body upward or outward.
(ii) Whether the opponent put himself in a vulnerable position by assuming a posture that made head contact on an otherwise full body check unavoidable.
(iii) Whether the opponent materially changed the position of his body or head immediately prior to or simultaneously with the hit in a way that significantly contributed to the head contact.
The Hall hit meets criteria (i) and (ii), no suspension |

I was just acknowledging the consensus that it was clean according to the rules. I don't like the hit. I think it's reckless only because he had time to decide not to do it (regardless of Larsen looking for nickels). Hasn't Hall sat out from concussion issues in the past? Maybe I'm mixing him up with all the others. |

It's a rough and fast game. 999/1000 that hit doesn't happen because the D has their head up and avoids it. If Hall wanted to kill him he could have. |

I believe you called it a "blindside" hit initially, this suggests you don't know what a good hit is. It's a tough sport, keep your (frank)in head up, hope he's ok but that was perfectly legal and a great hit by Hall.

I just watched the hit a number of times. (thanks Retinalz)
Clean hit Larsen should of had his head up. I still feel bad though doesn't matter who it is that takes it.
Hard way to learn a lesson. |

Yeah Willie's commitment to using scrubs like Chaput is pretty embarrassing.
Chaput had 2 shifts in the final 3 minutes of the Toronto game.
And this was after a commercial timeout so everyone was rested on the canucks.
