what the talking heads say is the players play to win, and you wouldn't want it otherwise.
so we should get back to it is either WD is a terrible coach or JB hasn't provided the players needed to win or both? and if JB, TL or JB could change up what they are saying to the public/media or how they are saying it, we will see an improvement on the ice. |

FWIW, each guy is worth a 3rd round pick if they hire them before their contracts are up. |

Do you not think though that they tried and are now just riding this out? Like if PIT was 28th in the league, guys injured, that they would fire the coach, make a few big trades to kickstart this by now? Holding steady seems like they aren't too worried about this year - WhiteLie
Sure they are, but the proof will be in their future decisions on a path forward. For two years now they've tried to be competitive and failed miserably, for varying reasons. It's time to rebuild and take a step back as a management group IMO. At least that's what I would do. |

FA would likely benefit from this advice, he should take a step back from the management group. |

I'm sure they did try. No one is accusing them of not trying, in fact I have said it many times that it is admirable that they want to remain competitive while transitioning to another core.
But if you are going to go with that route, you need to have some success to be given credit.
Holding steady when you don't really have many options is accepting reality. The time to hold steady was during the off season before signing UFA's to big deals and trying to find other shortcuts IMO.

Im just not sure what else they are expected to do. This is likely be 2 years in a row where they finish bottom 5, so two good draft picks, how much further back can you step back from here before trying to get better? I dont think they are bringing in pieces that dont work long term and they havent signed any outrageous contracts (Louie's might bother some, I think he will be fine). Its not perfect, but I just am curious what the calls are for, because managment might say they are competing but the actions say rebuild/tool to me |

Not anymore, the league changed the compensation rules. A team only needs to grant permission. |

Oh I am not trying to give them credit for trying, I think they added pieces they thought could help be competitive right away, but also bring long term benefits (Louie should bring the steady vet presence that will be gone with Burrows/etc., Gudbranson is only 24). I am just saying, their current actions seems to show them accepting fate for this season and will not try to put a band-aid over this in desperation for winning/success. I dont fault any team for making moves in the offseason to get better, but knowing when to fold on a bad season, rather than doubling down is important to me |

That's the way I see it, a bunch of talentless players (except the "D" ) trying to win, and management not giving them anything (talent wise) to win with.
Annd you forgot these!!! |

I agree with the bolded.
I just want to see them stop moving picks and prospects full stop.
They've moved too much to acquire too little so far while not remaining competitive. |

Are managment currently/ ever looking for a quick fix at the expense of the future? Dorset is probably the only example. Every other trade has been for youth |
