JB's recent comments about not asking to waive any seems to put trade talk to rest. Not sure if that was a message to other GM's so as to add value from position of not looking desperate. Or fans that team is still trying to win come to games. Or a combination of both? It does look more like TDL may be more quiet and off season prior to draft say that moves may be made. - Nuck4U
As much as we want to see players moved (Miller, Edler, Hansen, Burrows), it probably won't happen at the TDL.
The more likely scenario involves some player's being moved in the offseason, when there will be a lot of action with Vegas et al.
It's going to be a long wait. |

Benning needs to stop trying to win games... yeah,,, not going to happen.
- boonerbuck
not in his DNA to strip it down. But then he's not looking to trade future away either now as he got his fill in youth layer on the roster. So what else is there left to do? |

The strategy I think we should use to acquire picks is quite simple. Linden needs to hire as many GM's, coaches, and other staff as he can find, then dismiss them all. If anyone gets hired in this league, we get picks...

This is the problem, most people want this, but they're not fully doing this. They're trying to bypass the draft & develop system by using draft picks and or assets to acquire NHL ready players.
They're trying to do both. - LeftCoaster
Pick Appeared In NHL/ Played 100+ Games In NHL
Top-5 100%/ 96.3%
6-10 100%/ 78.1%
Rest of First Round 88.6%/ 63.0%
Second Round 65.7%/ 31.1%
Third Round 50.7%/ 27.9%
Fourth Round 36.0%/ 18.7%
Fifth Round 29.9%/ 14.2%
Sixth Round 30.0%/ 14.3%
Seventh Through Ninth Rounds 27.1%/ 11.6%
That's why he is trading 2nds and 3rds and 4ths.
It really isn't a problem to speed up the process a bit. |

Why wast ea pick on a player that doesn't have to sign though. They take say Tyler Johnson and then July 1st he walks. What a wasted pick. - Retinalz

Yeah. That seems where I was going with it. Just basing it all on talk by club and trade market with Vegas draft factor as well. Plus, they may resign our 2 UFA's in Miller and Burr. They might have trade value but it really will comes down to several issues. Where Canucks are at in season chase. What moves contenders have made. Plus the need factor over injury. Two plus months more they will evaluate TDL I guess. Then same come off season. Why media spins around on what the plan is as team plans appear now to be really fluid on asset movement. |

I hear you. Young impact players have sprouted up amongst other teams. The lack of same has caused the call for them more. Now it depends on whether any of the young complimentary players can develop into impact ones. Like how Bo is looking now from where he was. Like you said patience. - Nuck4U
Bo at 19 was a good compliment to middle aged older players. It was just Bo as a 19 year. There wasn't 4 or 5 others with no nhl experience. |

The continual mixed messages are frustrating and open them up to fair criticism. Such as the recent, "we may sign Miller next year" message from Linden. - LeftCoaster
You are right. Probably they are being fluid in plans. Trying to keep their options open. |

I hadn't heard that, hopefully it's just smoke. Realistically, where they are in the standings come TDL hopefully determines that |

Not smoke.
'The Canucks have eight players with either NTCs or no-movement clauses. They include the Sedins, Alex Edler, Jannik Hansen, Ryan Miller, Alex Burrows, Brandon Sutter and Loui Eriksson.
They are all staying unless their agents go to management and ask otherwise, Benning said'.
The TDL will come and go without any big moves from the nucks, there will be no tanking...and we'll still get a top 10 pick. |

Sadly they killed that whole compensation thing, shortly after we got dinged for Babs and Lou |

The only plan for next year should be getting cheap capable 4th line players. |

Stop signing 31 year old guys to 6 million dollar five year deals, stop trading for a "serviceable" big defenceman like Gudbranson when you could've signed a guy with similar skill-set as a UFA and kept your assets....and still finished near the bottom where they are now.
Everything they've done is water under the bridge, but stop making the same mistakes over and over because you feel you owe the Sedins something or you're chasing the playoffs which is clearly unattainable. They've won FOUR times in regulation this year. - LeftCoaster
Okay so say they don't sign a UFA. What do you prefer they do with the hole and cap space?
Also, what young D like Guddy were available to be signed? Not sure how you get someone like him without making a trade. I get his play has not been stellar now but he's not peeking and capable of more. |

I believe him.
I don't think he'd say, we won't do X and then do X.
This is an old school hockey guy that values integrity and values all the dudes mentioned in the previous post.
I could see Miller requesting a trade and being moved, but beyond that...i don't think we'll see much action at the TDL. |

That appears the thinking. However, it does leave Taney open. Though JB did say calls on him were turned down. All the talk points to this team is not desperate to make any trades. Now come TDL Canucks might make a move or two depending on factors at the time. |

Not sure how this applies to his modified NTC's that some of these guys have. Trading them to one of 5, 10, etc teams on their lists isnt asking them to waive and wouldnt require permission. But I am not sure if the list is already provided or if he doesnt want to ask them for it |

They were desperate at the TDL last season and let everyone know it. Got them nothing. JB is learning slowly. |

You can't be good without some element of luck. Another few years and you guys are gonna be in the Jets rear view mirror. Chevy's drafted well and been patient, thanks for Ehlers too - DraftandDestroy
Not sure what good part is all about? When was the last time your team won a play off game? You remember all the good it took not to make the play offs all these years? |

Sportsnet doing player profile of prospects. Just saw some highlights of elli toivanen or whatever his name is. If they were to comparable someone to Laine, he would be the closets Well I hope he shoots better then those highlights. |

My sense is that he doesn't want to move them, won't ask them to waive or provide a list of teams and will only move them if they ask to be moved. |
