For sure. I think he's played really well in quite a few others.

Really, really would like to see Lehner get on a roll now.

me too...would help if the team in front of him scored a few more goals when he's in net

Homie mentioned Murray was looking to add an older veteran player. Assuming it was a rental Vrbata came to mind.

my lines

kane, ror, okposo
foligno, eichel, reinhart
moulson, girgens/larsson, gionta
carrier, girgens/larsson, deslaurers

that's how I would do the top 9, w/o a nylander call up

question, if nylander is called up for the playoffs does it count on his elc deal?

I don't think so. I think after the minors season ends it doesn't count those games.

If he dresses I believe so, but the naysayers here will say that the most they would play is 7 games anyway

They would be better off waiving him
- Stripes77

Didn't Chicago have interest in him?

I wouldn't be opposed to keeping him down there next year as well if he isn't ready.

Take full advantage of the slide rule and then the Sabres would get 3 full years of him playing in the NHL during his ELC.

To be fair, we have no centers in the A. That hurts everyone all around. And they have no D so forwards are having to play more of a 2-way game a la Sabres pre-Jack.

He doesn't exactly have a center worth a damn to play with either though...

I've said it quite a few times this year though. The only players we have that are currently developing in the A that might see NHL time at some point this year (or early next) are wingers or Ullmark. That's it. The centers are all career AHLers and the few defensemen we have in the system that are there are a bit of a ways away (except for Nelson, who is apparently hurt).

he just recently had a 4 or 5 game tear in rochester

centers suck in rochester, so I don't read much into stats for the ahl players

it's like expecting vanek to thrive in his prime with mair as his center

Sure, he will get better, but marginally IMO.

He already thinks the game like a veteran. He already has the defensive acumen of a veteran.

He isn't waking up tomorrow as an elite puck handler or as a speed skater.

As people love to point out, he's always in the right spot at the right time. I guess my question would be, where is the big improvement in his game going to come from?

He's Jordan Staal. Very good player, who hasn't gotten much better since he's been 19-20. He just is what he is.

My opinion of course

- sbroads24

He can't be a near clone of Ryan O'Reilly in a season or two?

If he ends being that, the team can't win the cup with two players like that and an Eichel?
