Yeh I watched the reply just now and I can't really see how there was any intent. Anyways old news now. I just think what is said on the ice should stay on the ice. - docmorgan

I have nothing wrong with poop talking on the ice, but if you are going to go to the media and call a player classless and insinuate that they were to cowardly for not fighting your teammates thats on you ( McDavid).
He had an opportunity to go with Manning during the game, they shoved each other a bit and Conner skated away. I think that if you are going to call a guy out in the public forum you better be prepared to back it up on the ice. - belcherbd
while trash talk is just that, there are certain comments that are offside. if what POS wrote about burrows is true, i have no problem with sullivan writing about it. lucic saying i'm going to kill you next year in the handshake line should be written about. racist and other comments of that nature should also be exposed.
bragging about someone's injury may not be on quite the same level, but it is totally classless.
mcdavid reacted emotionally (as would i if someone broke my bone and then laughed about it). off the ice, he was asked why he was upset and answered. i've got absolutely no problem with that.
and i don't have any problem with superstars not fighting "their own battles." same as the league has always been (with some exceptions.) |

we'll see. Not that I'm unhappy the Flames are playing ok just can't see this level continuing. We've recently got scoring from all 4 lines too... - LordHumungous

How many fights has Crosby been in? Gretzky?
Some guys are too good to drop the gloves. Manning is a scrub, not worth the risk when you're the most dominant player in the league. Players call eachother gutless and classless in the media regularly. When you tell a guy you intentionally injured him, that is the definition of having no class. |

I looked and didn't find any comments Daniel made about keith as well, is that what you mean? - belcherbd
What I mean is Manning wasn't trying to hurt Mcdavid when the injury happened. He made a joke about it this past game to get under his skin and it worked. Keith intentionally doing what he did to Daniel is a completely different situation, where he is at fault regardless if he had mouthed off about it or not. |

I agree with most of what you are saying but I'm not saying fight your own battles, I'm saying shut your mouth in the public forum if you aren't willing to fight your own battles.
He didn't just say I was upset Manning said mean things to me he said, it was one of the most classless things he has ever seen and insinuated Manning was coward for not fighting his teammates.
I also agree there are times when things are said on the ice are so inappropriate that they should be brought to the public consumption but is that what you think went on with Manning?
For all we know Manning said "Be careful out there cupcake, I wouldn't want to break your collarbone again".

As a dman myself I would be trying anything to throw him off his game, its all about doing what ever it takes to win that's old school, but nowadays everything has to be policaly correct might offend someone. |

Or we could believe mcdavid's words (based on his actions on the ice) when he says that manning said he did it on purpose.
It's interesting when people believe that what manning did/said was to incite mcdavid and then jump on the kid for taking the bait. manning wanted a reaction and he got one. Doesn't mean that what he said wasn't classless and doesn't deserve to be put out there. |

That is always the worst. I gained respect for Crosby when he dealt with guys like Giroux and Dubinsky himself, particularly because he would female dog and moan about everything. female doging, taunting, etc then sending a guy way above your opponents weightclass to beat him up is one thing I cant stand
Sedins meanwhile are the opposite, rarely complain or make a scene about the abuse they take. So if someone steps up for them, I dont mind in that scenario because they dont antagonize or bring this upon themselves |

I'm a proponent of what said on the ice, stays there in most instances. I just think the line was crossed there IMO. He will get called out from a lot of guys around the league for saying anything in the media I would guess, but I just happen to agree with him on this one. |

Crosby and Ference I know have gone at least once maybe a couple of times.
The story I remember was that Ference showed up to the all star game or some league event on a bike because he had been campaigning for climate change action by the league and PA.
Crosby made fun of him and Ference called him out for showing up in a SUV or whatever. So Crosby looked right at him and tossed a pop can on the ground.
