Was just looking at a 2017 mock draft, it has us drafting some guy named: Grant Mismash in the 2nd round.
Great name. - dbot
What are they basing that on? |

You'll always be able to find some in the off-season. September is also a good time, as is a win on opening night. - golfingsince
Any suggestion on what fly to use? Typically I like the 'JB Mumbler', larval stage. |

Not a whole lot of high ranked D's in the few articles i've read.
Nicolas Hague, D, Mississauga (OHL) ? - dbot
Theres alot of good top centers for this draft, 2 of them got injured so maybe theyll fall to van gift wrapped, i defiently dont see the lotto going their way especially with vegas now |

Jovo and Ohlund were about as good as we've had for 1,2. That's pretty damn good though. - golfingsince
pretty good.
i mean a elite D though, like Shea Weber, Hedman, Doughty, Keith, Chara, Karlson, PK, etc.
Someone that takes over the game and can be counted on as a threat from the point. |

In a sense. It's a comment about cluelessness. - golfingsince
Another area of expertise for you. So what other deficiencies do the Canucks have? |

yeah. Bettmanhatesus.
it would be nice if a high end C fell to us.
Risky though, especially with JB not having the most job security, it would take some big coconuts to take a flyer on a player that has been injured...can you imagine the hysteria if they didn't pan out or develop immediately ? |

Yeah never had one of those. I don't see OJ becoming that either sadly. |

I know haven't seen any high for sure picks like that since Doughty. Hedman was after Tavares but he's just not flashy enough to be appreciated I guess. |

We've clearly established there are no deficiencies aside from coaching. That's the sole reason they're a bottom 5 team. I can't wait until they fire the coach so I can pre-order my playoff tickets. |

I'd say he has a chance. He's supposed to have a good hockey IQ.
He's 6'3 and once he fills out could be that all rounder D similar to ? Lidstrom (iknowiknow)
But doesn't appear to be a elite scorer (Karllson) or a big physical presence, hopefully he can be that jack of all trades that can be dependable in all situations...5v5, PP and PK. |

Gudbranson...
Ekblad, Hanifin, Provanov, Jones, Werenski all were seen at the time as pretty good bets to be a #1 D. |

Are you saying if you get let's say Nolan Patrick in a top 5 pick it would be a risk to draft him?
Also, don't see JB on any hot seat this year or next. With WD still having a job no one is getting chopped in early rebuild years. |

Half the league deals with it. Can't use it as a crutch - VANTEL
Sure, I agree to some point but who the (frank) can honestly claim that it was no reason to be flat from their armchar after getting out of their own bed...
Yes, teams in the west have to deal with it. I'm not claiming to know how all those games played out for those teams though? What do we have to compare? I'm too lazy... but I'm not going to pretend in the place of laziness
I wouldn't be surprised to find out that the visiting team on a late bed time early start in an opposite coast 3 in 4 probably plays pretty flat and has no excuse as well... just like the Canucks albeit a little less flat due to team quality

Juolevi with 2 Goals tonight
Slowly starting to get going. I though he was going to drop off significantly after the players they lost last year.
7 goals on the season. He 8 all of last season. - classic321
He was a +4 the game before as well. A disaster the game before that...

Not a fair comparison. He's in a bigger class of D. Not an offensive guy okay. But Guddy is much more tougher and mobile. He's a good top four or at worst a 5 guy. |

Exactly. My original response was questioning why they would be tired. Banged up and injured sure but tired?
If our players are tired in December, then they are going to be in a coma by March.
They are just not good enough to compete on a consistent basis. - bloatedmosquito
There's a difference in being tired in December and being tired in a couple of games in December late in a cross coast back to back... but don't let me stop you from your Sunday story telling session...

Well your not wrong, but your not right. How many other those players have produced more points each year? How many stayed in Junior, and then spent 2-3 years in the AHL before joining the NHL? If someone from 2009 spent 2 years in Junior and then 3 years in AHL before making NHL full time, that would be the 2014-2015 that they joined the league. If that year they put up 15-20 pts, and then in the 2015-2016 they put up say 40pts. This year they put up 60 pts, well now they are a 1st line talent. Sure it took them 7+ years from being drafted, but that is what it takes some players. Look at Detroit and some of their 1st line talent. as well as other teams. Someone that got drafted in 2012 may just be breaking into the league this year. Are they a failure because it took them longer to develop? Is it impossible for them to be 1st line in the NHL eventually? - Retinalz
Legit 1st line talent doesn't take 7 years. |

I think Don and Booner decided that they had better things to do than respond.
Edit: I'm assuming this because I haven't received a four page PM from Booner telling me why I'm an ass hole. - bloatedmosquito
You are priceless. Just because I tore you a new bumhole after you trolled me in my messages... you are only one of two people who use to troll me in private.
