pretty good.
i mean a elite D though, like Shea Weber, Hedman, Doughty, Keith, Chara, Karlson, PK, etc.

Someone that takes over the game and can be counted on as a threat from the point.

- dbot

Karlsson had 1 point in 7 games in the men's Swedish league in his draft year. 10 in 45 games the next season. 26 in his first NHL season. Very extreme progression really.

We've clearly established there are no deficiencies aside from coaching. That's the sole reason they're a bottom 5 team. I can't wait until they fire the coach so I can pre-order my playoff tickets.
- golfingsince

Clearly. Does that also go along with holding your breath?

Though semantics aside the measurement of success or competitiveness is a much smaller margin than can be appreciated. An impact player or two here or there can with the right coaching combine chemistry and deployment for team competency. Then confidence takes over and all sets of limitations fall away.

You make adding 2-3 impact players so easy.

You must be Tony Robbins alt.

Really desperately need quality wingers for Bo and Sutter. Oh and a new coach

I would rather draft a guy to replace him.

Are you saying if you get let's say Nolan Patrick in a top 5 pick it would be a risk to draft him?

Also, don't see JB on any hot seat this year or next. With WD still having a job no one is getting chopped in early rebuild years.

- Nuck4U

Patrick not so much.
I think JB is one bad move away from losing his job. But that holds true for half the league.

Defiently, i think Burrows on that line has run its course, but with willie itll stay like that for awhile. And the dump and chase, that very rarely actually works needs to not be a thing

The Canucks suck. They're talent deficient.

There are no magic bullets, it's going to take time. The twins are 37. You're still looking at 2-3 drafts to begin fixing this mess.

Not a fair comparison. He's in a bigger class of D. Not an offensive guy okay. But Guddy is much more tougher and mobile. He's a good top four or at worst a 5 guy.
- Nuck4U

I agree. good top 4.
But not a top 2...which was my original point.

I'd say he has a chance. He's supposed to have a good hockey IQ.
He's 6'3 and once he fills out could be that all rounder D similar to ? Lidstrom (iknowiknow)

But doesn't appear to be a elite scorer (Karllson) or a big physical presence, hopefully he can be that jack of all trades that can be dependable in all situations...5v5, PP and PK.

I think Willie has run his course. He benched Baert over skille ffs. Definitely not working anymore.

skille has had a good showing last couple games, but gaunce/chaput over baert cmon, id even much rather have grenier and valk playing on this roster over gaunce and chaput right now

It's great to have hope and everything, i'm just adding a dose of reality. Remember when this was supposed to be Sven's breakout year ? How about Guddy and Ben being a legit top pairing?

Let's get real, we have some nice complimentary pieces and maybe one or two can breakout but we don't have much high end talent to build around.

I got no beef with sitting Baer and rewarding the hard working Skille.
Same with JV.

whoever is slumping, sits.
whoever is showing hustle and heart gets to play.

good habits to instill.

Sure. Right now we hope OJ can be that top 1D. Add the combination of either Stecher being a new wave mobile type D. Or the powerful Tree may develop to partner up to being top 2. Getting a stud number 1D is hard. Sometimes it comes down to top 4 by committee. With that need the Canucks have 6 contenders and two established guys going for it. With at least 4-5 place holders for the 5/6. Not a bad place to be, right?

I thought it was Megna that got the nod over Baer?
