Legit 1st line talent doesn't take 7 years.
- manvanfan

So your saying that there has never been a single 1st line talent in the NHl that took more than 3-4 years to develop into one?

I got no beef with sitting Baer and rewarding the hard working Skille.
Same with JV.

whoever is slumping, sits.
whoever is showing hustle and heart gets to play.

good habits to instill.

- dbot

Skille slumped for a long time before he got his 3 goals in 2 games.

Next year. Won't have anything left to do in junior.
- manvanfan

If they add OJ next season it will be bottom pair. To know if he's the real deal 1D will take a few years at least.

skille has had a good showing last couple games, but gaunce/chaput over baert cmon, id even much rather have grenier and valk playing on this roster over gaunce and chaput right now

One thing I hope to see is a winger who compliments Bo's power game. Whether it be Brock or Jake or someone in he next draft we need to focus on getting him some linemates so he can at least takeover as #1 line sooner rather than later.
He may not be a legit #1C but he is what we have to work with now. Maybe if we fill a hole through a trade this year, have decent drafts over the next 2-3 years, as mentioned by a previous poster, we may be in decent shape.
I don't know how many of you really thought this mess was going to be fixed in the 3 drafts that Benning has had.
Many have thought Coyotes were a team of the future and look at their struggles.
Patience and time are important at this stage of the re: whatever it is called.

It's great to have hope and everything, i'm just adding a dose of reality. Remember when this was supposed to be Sven's breakout year ? How about Guddy and Ben being a legit top pairing?

Let's get real, we have some nice complimentary pieces and maybe one or two can breakout but we don't have much high end talent to build around.

- golfingsince

I don't remember anyone saying any of these things. Not even Canucks management.

The Canucks suck. They're talent deficient.

There are no magic bullets, it's going to take time. The twins are 37. You're still looking at 2-3 drafts to begin fixing this mess.

- golfingsince

easy there Archy Bunker. We get it it's all a mess for you until they win the Cup.

Behind Hutton and edler sure. I see his progression the same as werenski and provorov. Not sure if he will turn out as good in the end but damn close.

Not at all.

There are times to be excited about the state of the franchise, this is not one of them.

Canucks rule!

It's unfortunate that bad bounces, scheduling and poor coaching has them in a bottom 5 position.

I'm realistic is all. I don't have high expectations for the team this season, next, nor the year after. Wether management or ownership wants to admit it, we are rebuilding.

How can you not see they are? Take away the Sedins and Burrows and we have to be close to the youngest team

Just because they are playing young players doesn't mean they're part of the future. We've seen much of this before.

I can help you.
A few believed that if things were right Van would be a .500 team.
A few don't think WD is worth keeping. Myself included.
Van needs better wingers
Need some more high end talent
Guds is a 3-4 D at best
Hutton is a 2-4, still too young to tell.
Baertschi break out was last year.

Van is rebuilding just not tanking.
