Just because they are playing young players doesn't mean they're part of the future. We've seen much of this before.

Don't be dramatic, everyone knows injuries are the reason.
- belcherbd

Remember when Sutter's injury is the reason we didn't make it last year?

No poop.

My cousin is young, he's not part of the future of the Canucks neither......unless you factor in ticket sales.

I can help you.
A few believed that if things were right Van would be a .500 team.
A few don't think WD is worth keeping. Myself included.
Van needs better wingers
Need some more high end talent
Guds is a 3-4 D at best
Hutton is a 2-4, still too young to tell.
Baertschi break out was last year.

Van is rebuilding just not tanking.

Oh, you missed a few things. Do you read any of the posts in here or just need more of those memory exercise games?

Well I suspect EG, Stetcher, Hirvat, Hutton, Virt, Boeser, Demko, Juolevi and one of Gaudette or Lockwood will be...then add in a couple high picks the next two years and we may be on our way. At least we are beginning to assemble quality youth

I don't remember anyone saying any of these things. Not even Canucks management.
- manvanfan

Then you have a short memory. For a month before training camp it was a regular West Side Story around here. Circle Jerkers vs Whiners.

I distinctly remember someone saying:

"If people think this season's roster is worse than last season’s then they don't know hockey." Followed by the appropriate and

Another gem was:

"JBs messaging is clear. People just hear what they want to hear".

That's one of my favorites.

I'm realistic is all. I don't have high expectations for the team this season, next, nor the year after. Wether management or ownership wants to admit it, we are rebuilding.
- golfingsince

I think they said that. I believe they are in a rebuild too with mass roster changes.

Some hope for playoffs while doing it. At least management wants to try. Which confuses the aspect that they are rebuilding. Just in different stages and ways, then some others, like to see or identify; as doing the right thing.

Either way it's interesting times seeing things take shape. Who needs bona fide superstars to rain praise; when, you got drama and hardship to forge something new. It's the Canuck way.

I still think this team is better than last year...I don't remember anyone saying we were better than a team potentially fighting for a wildcard spot

Yes. Obvious is not so obvious to some.

I must be psychic because I knew they were going to be a pile of shit.

I'm fine if it's only 3 more years, but that's if all goes well. I think that's a return to being a playoff contender, or bubble team on the rise.

A lot of the ten year rebuild teams thought the same as many in here after year one or two ...they all had nice prospects that they were high on too

Man, we had people almost assuring us a playoff spot. The question was how many rounds we'd win.

Realistic is 2 prospects per draft contribute to a team. Team made up of 20 players. There's your 10 years.

Well I knew as most we needed a full roster most nights to be .500. Rarely had that and still around .500.

...but when people were predicting how Gillis was going to land us in the dark ages for years to come, you called them Debby Whiner, taunted them on the board and in their messages, and generally shoved your head up your ass about it...this is why your routine is so amusing to me.

Now you are strutting around all smug because the Canucks sucked and you were telling us all this before any games were played.

I think once you have your core in place you can start to build around it ..not projected core either ...im talking your future 1C, 1RW, 1LW,1-2D all playing in those roles

We're doing it differently.

We're stockpiling role players while we await the above aforementioned. I'm fine with that, as long as we get to the future 1C, 1D etc.
