If we have bad lottery luck again. Should be top 3 this year. Gabriel Vilardi? - VanHockeyGuy
Nolan-Nico-Vilardi would be the top 3 centers right now. |

Tanev has scored 14 goals in his entire career (302 games) and has only played 7 games this year. I get what you are saying, but Tanev isn't on the team for his goal scoring abilities - nucks_94
I am saying it is part of the problem . He still chews up money that could be spent on scoring. It doesn't matter if they are constantly on LTIR it is still eating up your cap space seeing we are not replacing them with a 4-5 mil replacement.
There are always excuses but you wonder why a team that struggles to score pays that much money for that type of productivity. There's your answer. |

Yeah I could see Bo being a 2nd line C with the right personal on either side, but that's what I'm getting at...it's the talent that is being dressed. - Makita
I think Bo IS a 2c right now, but he isn't being played with top 6 wingers. He is producing at 2c rate with a 4th liner and 3rd liner as his linemates. If WD(not knocking coaching in this post) were to makehis top 6 Sedins-Hansen, LE-Bo-Sutter. I think that would make for a better team and the bottom 6 would pretty much 4th line NHL and AHL talent. Baer will be a good top 9 player, but will still take time for that. |

How many games have we won with Tanev and Edler out again? - neem55
The same amount as when they are in
Both were in for most of that 9 game losing streak |

My only point is, New Jersey after Neidemeyer left and Minnesota for years under Lemaire were able to compete with rosters that were comparable to the Canucks (NJ having Brodeur still) and never bottomed out. Anyone can see that the team has very little talent on it, the question always is, is WD effectively maximizing what little he has? Sure, there's not much you can do when your roster is filled with players that have stone hands and cement skates, but is he deploying them in places and situations where they can make the most of what little they have.
Could another coach do better? That's always been my question, I'd like to see someone with a little more experience take over this team and see what they can do, maybe not this year, but next year when it's the final year of the Sedins contract and whatever pieces at the draft and FA JB can assemble and with Bo, JV, Boeser, Juolevi (possibly), Hutton, Stecher, Demko (longshot) having had this year to improve. - DariusKnight
May as well ride the season out with WD and his crappy coaching and hire a new coach in the offseason(i highly doubt they will, JB and TL are far, far, FAR too loyal to the wrong people). |

They should hire Gallant in the offseason if available. Alternatively, Green |

Problem is I don't think Sutter and Bo make sense on a line together. They both like to take the puck and run with it, you wouldn't see a whole lot of passing going on. |

This is it. With guys like Jooris available for next to nothing we continue to roll with 6 AHL guys in the lineup. I'd have to agree at this point they are looking at another high pick.
Megna - AHL
Chapoo - AHL
Gaunce - AHL
Baertchi - NHL
Hutton - NHL
Skille - AHL (for the most part)
How are we going to beat top 10 teams consistently with those 6 constantly in the lineup? - LordHumungous

I don't always agree with Dragon but he made a good point earlier about why firing a coach now allows your "core" players the rest of the season to learn the new systems prior to the start of next year. Other than that I don't know what the point of firing WD is at this point. |

Hutton isn't an AHL player, he's just playing with a greater role and responsibility than he should have right now. The problem with Baertschi isn't that he's not an NHLer, it's that he's an NHLer somewhere around 50% of the time. - NorthNuck
And so is Hutton. |

You're never going to convince me that trading Chris Tanev is a good idea. Yeah, he's sh!t at producing offense, but his shot suppression stats mean he saves an average of 0.3 goals against per game over the last 3 years. To put that into perspective, the next closest defenseman in the league in that stat is at 0.19 (so not even close).
Plus, he's on an incredibly team-friendly deal for 3 years after this. If you want to free up cap space to invest in more scoring, trade Edler, Gudbranson, or Sbisa, but Tanev is the Canucks best defensive dman but a huge margin. |

Why gallant? He's almost a clone of WD just a few years younger. His deployment decisions got him fired already because he wouldn't take his mgmt teams advice.
I know he is in the news because of that taxi picture but I'm not sure he's an upgrade. |
