Ill get a little fancy before the work day ends...
Let's play a points percentage game. I said at the beginning of the season the Flyers want 100 points (I think it would be cool). That is a points percentage of 61% and it should easily get them into the playoffs.
They've played 31 games and have 39 points. That is a points percentage of 62.9% To reach 100 points they need 61 points in the remaining 51 games. This is 59.8%.
The Flyers also have 10 outright losses in 31 games...let's pretend that trend continues for the remainder of the season (and round up) to say they will lose 17 more games.
Anyway...point is they can probably lose 15/16 games and that number goes up if they get a loser point out of it. Things are good. |

Right now, the 2nd Eastern wildcard is projected to need 103 points.

OT, but I'm thinking of going up to Montreal from 12/28 to 1/2. First, any recommendations of things to do, places to see, etc would be appreciated. Secondly, what is the possibility and best option for scoring WJC tickets?
Thanks! |

Easily my favorite part of the Sanheim article:
He's far from it.....*cough* Brennan and O'Neill *cough*
Sanheim has really been even better than anticipated defensively. He's essentially used as a shutdown d-man next to Morin, seeing much of the difficult matchup minutes, lots of PK time, and not so much PP time on the inconsistently deployed second unit. Though oddly Gordon has been using Sanheim in this role but when the last few minutes come around with a close lead, often benches him. But his reads and work down low, his active stick, his ability to transition efficiently have all been developing quicker than I thought.
I will say though, I hope it isn't the organizations long-term goal to see him, like Ghost, as a full-time RD. He's not a pure shooter like Ghost. He looks less effective offensively (and he's still as effective as anyone on that blueline) on the right instead of the left, where he can pinch and cycle easier along the boards on his forehand, walk the puck easier, pass easier. When he gets spot chances on the left, his game really opens up. I think Sanheim at RD is an 80% Sanheim. - Mononoke
He played on the left side in Juniors. His ability to cut through the middle was a huge strength. Not sure that's a good idea in the pro game.
I compare him to Gostisbehere in one way. They both have superior offensive games and they need to sacrifice some of that to tighten up their D game. Once their D game is where it needs to be they can start adding in that offensive flair that comes more naturally. I expected them to reign Ghost in this season. I also expect his offensive game to resurface soon. |
