cool, I had not been able to find this info. That's interesting. So getting a top 5 pick is quite a bit harder this year. All the more reason to tank, says I! (there's no pirate emoji)

You think the other years will better when the expansion team can finish last? Time to change the entry draft lotto rules for next season. Open it up further to higher placings on odds. Or Vegas may ring true on statement to win the Cup in 5 years.

Every year is a good year to pick top five in the draft. Every draft produces good players. You've just gotta pick well.

Bingo. Tanking also lets you pick high in every round. When you pick 1st and 32nd and 63rd... those are all very high picks and have much more likelyhood to be roster/core players down the road.

31 teams per round now, every draft from here on just got a little deeper and picking high just became a little more important.
